Bedroom tax

just been having a look an your right, still worthwhile for pple to try

The council have a certain amount in the fund to pay out as DHP the less they pay the better. not everybody that applies will get it Marky. And even if they pay out the lot in the pot it will safe them alot of cash

the feckers tried an lost with the cooncil tax now they steamroller this through without a peep from the sheep

Some quick 'brownie points' - let's move a bit right without moving right...keep some whining bar-stewards happy without addressing the real problem - the benefit system is not joined up and largely stupid. Fixing it is pretty hard though because the bleeding hearts and liberals will stamp their feet...

...now, where was I?

My wife volunteers somewhere and applied for this for one of the disabled youngsters she helps, The local council agrred he needed it and began paying it last week, They then fooked their internal paperwork up and have now stopped the payments My wife phoned them up and they said that yes he is entitled but they cant do anything until after the new financial year, So the Kid does without and cant afford to pay his rent/bills as he needs the extra cash

Well, if your local council is paying £1700 to have a sapling planted...

Thing is, if they try and charge you for a room thats too small, you have to pay for any appal yourself. As all legal aid has been scraped.unless you are a terrorist our wealthy.

Friend of mine is married and got 2 daughters living in a 3 bedroom house has now been told he has to pay it because they say the 2 girls can share a room, leaving 1 empty.

as this only affects people on benefits ,not being funny but how much people get on benefits nowadays they can easily afford this and don't say they cant because its better off being on benefits than low wage jobs ie if jobcentre did a better off at work calculation on you they will work out your be better off at work by about £15 To £40 but they don't count in that travel to work costs then you got to pay for your kids school dinners ,dentists ,prescriptions then people on benefits get things like budget loans basically an interest free loan not counting the grants they get for free

people have come to think they are entitled to things for free and have to do nothing for the stuff they get but its not there fault its the goverments fault for letting people have it like this for so long and people have come dependent on it

just say you gave a friend money everyweek for a couple of years to help him out then you don't as cant afford it anymore you wouldn't expect him to come moaning at you saying wheres my f-ing money

Havelin it aint just people that dont work for whatever reason. Anyone in a low paid job who does not earn enough can and does, or should get HB, Those that do and are under occupying will lose out too and will lose on average £14 per week.

The Torries are unfortunately gona win and get their evil way not just with this but with almost all their evil little plans not because they are right but because they have got almost all of us fighting and arguing with each other about the unfortunate people with suffer daily with disability or who are on benefits through no fault of their own.

Yes there are people who abuse the system who need weeded out, but instead of spending cash on going after them they are penalizing everybody who is out of work or disabled through no fault of their own.

They are trying to make the rest of the nation hate and despise disabled and unemployed people and succeeding while making the rich, including themselves, even richer and the poor poorer.

"WE CAN'T FIGHT THE ENEMY WHILE FIGHTING EACH OTHER!"

They know this and are sitting laughing at us all while rubbing their hands.

F**K em all thats what I say.

I'd rather be on the side of the disabled and unemployed than that mob any day of the week.

And by the way this bedroom Tax does not affect me in any way "at the moment" but I feel for the people that it does.

The state this country is in anyone of us could find this tax affecting us in the future, i.e. redundancy, losing your home you have on morgage through unemployment /sickness and having to move into social housing/private rental etc etc

Yip!! "We're all in this together"

The Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority said the sum MPs can claim was increasing for “associated expenditure” on their second homes “to reflect inflation”.

The cash takes the total amount that can be spent on rent and bills from £20,000 to £20,100 from April 1 this year.

Ipsa said the cash was to help MPs pay for increases in the cost of Freeview television, gas and electricity bills and insurance.

Other costs covered by the increase were council tax bills, service charges, contents and building insurance, phone line rental and bills and burglar alarms.

Figures from the Office for National Statistics show that household bills have risen four times faster than average earnings since the credit crisis began, leaving many families fearing worse to come from Budget 2013.

Ipsa also announced that the amount of money MPs can claim for the cost of running their offices was also going up by 2.4 per cent.

Ipsa decided on the increases after it had “sought the views of the public, MPs and other interested parties about any possible amendments”. It added that it considered that the MPs' expenses “scheme is working well and that only minor adjustments were necessary”.

Ipsa has also decided to publish as a matter of routine the names of any MP who is a tenant or landlord of another MP.

Last year Ipsa decided to publish the information after a request under the Freedom of Information Act despite protests from Commons speaker John Bercow and other MPs.

Matthew Sinclair, Chief Executive of the TaxPayers’ Alliance, said: “Whilst the 0.5% increase in the amount available for running their second homes is modest, MPs must not be insulated from the impact of the rising cost of living.

"Our politicians must also not be allowed to forget that when it comes to things like fuel and energy costs, it is their policies which are directly responsible for the higher bills landing on everyone’s doormats.”

It also emerged that Lord Hanningfield, who was jailed for his expenses claims, has started claiming Lords allowances again. Latest figures show that he claimed £4,800 in October 2012 alone, plus £383 travel costs.

That brings his total claims in the first five working months since he was allowed back to £15,900 worth of allowances, plus £1,329 travel costs. Lord Hanningfield has not spoken in the House of Lords since he was sentenced to nine months in prison in 2011 for fraudulent claims.

£70 a week is that jsa if it is why do you pay for prescriptions
as 70 a week if you was working would be about 11 hours at minimum wage so you would be still entitled to sign on and get free prescriptions and free dental

your left with 200 a month is better than some working people
I used to rent a two bedroom property which was 500 a month
I was only taking 800 a week home after tax
90 council tax
plus 35 to get to work a week
leaving me 175 a month
plus I had to pay dentist prescriptions
people on benefits get more than I was

that's about 45 a week I had to live off

and my ex on benefits with two kids gets 200 + a week cash on top of her rent paid and council tax paid she is getting hit by this bedroom tax as she got a spare room she can easily afford it with how much she gets
