Morning all,

I set up my TM5402 HD M2 yesterday and eventually got all the main channels working okay, the SD channels can be edited using the menu to enter the VPIDs and APIDs etc but the HD channels have to be manually added to change the video type to H264 and audio type to MPEG4.

I have also added the radio stations, you just need to add the APIDs.

I have tried a few recordings on HD (including two channels at once) with a 320GB Toshiba external USB powered drive and all seems okay.

However, I have a few questions:

a) Is it possible to get rid of the infernal PIN request every time you go into the menu? So, so annoying!
b) How do I change the video type to H264 and audio type to MPEG4 using the Clarke or NDF editors?
c) I used the Clarke channel editor to update my channel list, when I uploaded it to the box I had to go into every channel and select the BI$$ key again for each one as it was showing as 'off'. Is there a way of avoiding this?


Anyway, apart from that all seems working fine.

I have answered questions a & b but not sure about c yet...

a) Menu > System Settings > Password Setting > Enter PIN 0-0-0-0 > Set Receiver Lock to 'OFF' > Set Remote/Ch/Install Lock to 'OFF' > Set Channel Lock Confirm to 'OFF' > Set Age Limit to 'FREE' > Press Exit > Settings were changed. Do you want to save? > Select Yes & Press OK

b) What I would have done is... download all the channels as normal from transponder 11.495 V 44100 ...then delete all the HD channels like this...

Menu > Edit Channels > Delete Channels > Highlight & Press OK on every HD channel > X appears on the selected channel numbers > Press Exit > Warning !! Do you want to delete? > Select Yes & Press OK > Saving... Please Wait !!

Then add each individual HD channel back into the channel line up like this...

Select Add Channels > Select Transponder > Enter Channel Name > Enter Video PID > Enter Audio PID > Enter PCR PID > Select Video Type H.264 > Select Audio Type MPEG4 > Press Yellow to Save

NB
PCR PID ~ enter the same value as the Video PID

Then direct each of the newly added HD channels to use the same BI$$ Key

On b) that is how I did it, adding the channels manually, I just wondered how to add them using the channel editor.

@dantis. I'm glad to hear you are finally 'getting along' with your 5402, I seem to remember you having doubts at first. And that is excellent news re. the radio channels, I didn't realise they worked, did you get the APID's from KOS or the like?

Yes was a little unsure at first, but all good now.

The radio station APIDs are from KOS, you leave VPIDs and PPIDs blank.

Future is looking a little rosier (for now at least).
 
If they are encrypted does this box TM5402HD unencrypt them ?? so they can be viewed or do I need to load special software . thanks for any info

Out of the box the receiver is FTA, you need to flash the box with the relevant firmware and patches then load the BI55 codes, all the information is on this forum.

Not sure were how to post, has this my first time on this site.

Has I live part time in Portugal and the situation with regards the loss of BBC ext channels from 28.2, I have been over the last several weeks looking for alternative to receiving the main UK channels , tried the IPTV route though Pi box and XBMC very good on fibre , but not good HD.

So have installed another dish at 27.5 west and borrowed a new Megasat 920Ca box got all the UK main channels a couple of weeks ago now complete loss all sound and vision still receiving strong signal but with $ sign .

1) Is there something I should do to the setting on the Megasat ?
2) Should I return the box and buy a better and recommended box.
3) I would like to be able to have Linux on the box but would for go this to have sat box that is more main stream and supported.

Once again apologies if I have not posted correct, but greatly appreciate some advice to enable me to learn more and progress.

frankrose You need TM5402HD box. Megasat 920Ca is not good now for 27.5°w bbc channels.
I am using PC and TBS-5925 usb box.
But soon Enigma2 boxes are good, just little hack needed.

The TM 5402 HD is the best box because when the PMT is encrypted (as it is now) it is one of only a few boxes which can still receive it, all the others will go off.
 
Any 5402 will do the job, infact most closed source tm's will work once patched and keys added. xbmc should be fine even hd with a decent fibre connection. Maybe you should explore different add on's as some are better than others.
 
ive just tried my DR-HD F15(209P) and its pulled the channels in ok(unlike my TM5302HD) but the channels wont clear, sd or hd. regards mdt
