Actually there IS a solution which I have just found and may help others : change the HDMI settings on the V+ Box to Scart by pressing Home on the V+ Remote followed by 8 then 4 and then the Red Button

I dont have one yet and the box is set to hdmi so need to revert it back to scart before i can see anything on the screen.
