cheap rrod parts?

Hmm.. me again.
I should add that I don't use any washers between the screw head and the motherboard. I only place 2 washers between the motherboard and heatsink.
The machine screws I linked to, have a very smooth head underside, as smooth as any washer, so no washers needed, saves a few pennies for those on a budget.

This is the diagram i follow:

RRODFix
I had seen that way of doing it a while back, but didn't want the extra hassle of drilling the bottom of the metal case.
The screws I use sit in the recess where the bolts you use would pass through, and the heads of the bolts are slim enough that they dont even touch the metal bottom, so theres no extra pressure on the motherboard when all screwed together.
Just personal preference I spose :)

i've just tried those parts smokin, top man.

just the two washers between the board and sink. nine kits left :)

They do the job nice, don't they?
I have went through about 12 sets so far but still got enough to do about 20 more boxes :D
I do have a nice collection of 7 working 360's now too due to people dumping old red lighters :)

not sure if this would be any help,

but i have just fixed an RROD Xbox by only removing the xclamp from the GPU and CPU and stacking the standard heat sink pins under the main board with 5x 1mm washers on each post and still using the origanl heat sink retaining screws.

unit has been on all morning and is working perfectly

Thanks for this thread, I ordered enough to repair 10 box's, have done 2 and both seem to be working fine

I got a nuked xbox someone could have if they want if for parts?? It dont have the drive though. lol.

This is odd .. i could only fix the rrod with nylon washers ....
zinc washers always failed for me..weird huh

Zinc washers would have shorted the cpu or the gpu out and this is why the nylon washers are always better in my opinion....

got metal washers on one of mine, no issues at all ! works 100% fine an has done for a month or so, no shorting nothing !

I can only think that the washers some are using are too big.. in the sense of area...?
