It does what it says on the box, and more besides.

So basically put up or shut up then?

People have the right to point out bugs or flaws which they perceive to affect how any box works,
its what drives the whole various open source development programs etc

There is nothing better then finding bugs and then either managing to fix it yourself or at least have regular updates to address these issues,
if people didnt speak up then the manufacturers would just presume everything is fine and move on to their next project,

I haven't got mine yet but you've also got your network mounts for media playback and recording, so I've heard.

Both E2 and Spark are open and customisable... I can't wait to roll sleeves up and get coding for it - there's an incentive to instead of feeling repeatedly bum attacked by TM

how do we install the e2 image and where do we get it ? i used the online update feature on the box for the e2 image thats there
i also updated to the e2 image listed on the box once that was done i restarted and tried to boot to the enigma image it done nothing
then i restart and go to spark and box loads fine but cant get cams to run in the spark image
maybe it me not being used to oscam but cant get nothing to clear

What? wiz569! you got me all wrong mate, my point was simple! For the money the Amiko Alien2 is great value, and does everything a satellite enthusiast wants plus more besides. Pure and Simple!

I've played around with this receiver for a little over two weeks and it does everything I ask, for most people, including those who require cs it works like a charm.

Yes, like a lot of other receivers there are some bugs but they are not major ones and are fixable with appropriate firmware.

Turner Brown! the firmware you downloaded from the spark menu is simply a E2 upgrade, to put it simply, you must have E2 already installed, but in your case you haven't, hence it doesn't work.

The E2 firmware's are all BETA so not finalized as yet, they work, but they are limited. Although I haven't tried the firmware listed by "mickmc68".

To install the E2 firmware you need to:

Download the version of E2 you wish to use (make sure it's for Alien2)

Create a folder on your desktop called "enigma2"

Unzip the E2 files you downloaded and copy the "e2jffs2" and "uImage" to the "enigma2" folder

Format a USB Pen Drive to FAT32 (Do not do the quick format as this usually doesn't work)

Copy the "enigma2" folder to your USB Pen Drive

Turn off the receiver at the rear

While pressing the OK key on the front of the receiver, turn it back on at the rear

After a few seconds the display should read FORC

Press the DOWN key on the receiver to display ENIG

Press the RIGHT key on the receiver to display FACT

If all is well U LD should appear on the display

Wait for firmware to be loaded and receiver will display BOOT

You can now select between SPARK or ENIGMA2 by doing the following:

Switch off at the rear

Press and hold OK key until FORC appears in the display

Press the UP key for Spark followed by OK key or

Press DOWN key for ENIGMA2 followed by OK key

People seem to be quite interested in this reciever, it could be great if people get behind it and a decent e2 image appears or once the dust has settled everyone could simply get bored and move on to the next leaving this on the scrap heap hopefully it does well as the price is great

i have this box running great in spark. i do need to restart cam after reboot or hard off but thats a littlei issue
i think i have messed up oscam plugin on the emigma boot but thats a nood issue
i will reflash and reload oscam when the kids leave me a lone for 10 mins and the beer wears off
spark looks great for the joe public as lots to keep them busy and hard to freck up
emigma setup was same layout as vu but with little bugs . the recording and playback in spark was smooth
and compares to the blades easy use
the browsers and so on i didnt try as not had the time but will as i plan on keeping this box and my vu

Makes you laugh. Difference being it's half the price, sold as dual booting OS but powered by Spark which does everything as advertised. They don't officially support E2 and don't have in-house teams building for it whilst serving anyone a spoonful of BS... you know what you're getting up front. But lets be honest, you'll take the piss in one post then take it back in the next blah blah blah regardless anyway as you usually do, all whilst not buying one. Sad little man aren't you
