Guys I'm not that clued up on TV's but mine has decided to pack in, so I'm on the lookout for a new one.

The budget has been set at £500, been looking at the usual suspects but I haven't a clue it's all true motion
this and log gamma that?, any how is there such a TV I can side load the likes of I**V on and other goodies
such as BeeTV etc? also good picture quality essential for when the football comes back (if it ever does)

any suggestions gratefully received and there's a free ticket to one of @miggy garden party's when things
get back to normal, usual retail price £0.25p.

Buy Hitachi 58 Inch Smart 4K UHD LED TV with HDR | Televisions | Argos

that sounds like a real bargin there almost makes me wanna buy one. have only got a 32 incher here almost cost that tmuch from argos. the only thing it has is iplayer netflexx and youtubes its a piece of shit. am not sure about having a telly thats bigger than the window. have no idea why that is a thing to me though lol

For that price you will probably be looking at a Vestel. You only get what you pay for. If quality isn't that important to you then buy a budget set, watch it for a few years and when it goes wrong replace it and buy another.
If on the other hand you are picky (like me) you would do better to spend closer to your budget and consider LG or Samsung as the usual frontrunners. Look closely at which OS the television uses to make sure it's compatible for IPTV.

yeah mate, looking to spend all the budget, would have spent more but I didn't set it

I like the look of some of they LG models as they have Freesat HD, my terrestrial aerial is fecked
(and I keep asking the missus if she'll go up and fix it, but she says wait till the chimney need re-pointing
and I'll do it then) but not sure if you can side load apps onto them?
I'll do some more research, but like I said in the first post I haven't a fecking clue what I'm looking
for. :(

Make sure tv covers 5 year warranty as they can break around that time.
Samsung and Lg might have blocked apps you cant use.
Android is better.

My opinion only.

Buy from Richersounds or Costco if you or a mate has a card and get great service and 6 or 5 year guarantee.
If your wanting to sideload those apps to the tv and not a firestick or android box you will need an android TV not just a smart TV. You can sideload/download certain IPTV apps to other TV systems such as those used by samsung or LG. but if you want android then sony is the way to go.

Cheaper or older model TVs' made by sony are more likely to have an earlier version of Android and can be slower to change apps etc unless they have had an update to latest version available.
Best advice I would say is do not buy a TV blind if you can help it, go and see the TV in action but bear in mind that the Picture you see in the shop may not match what you see at home if you watch SD or sometimes even HD.

If you see a TV from elsewhere other than the two I mentioned Check that Richersounds sounds also sells the model you are looking at and try for a price match.

A bit over your budget but I got this TV LG 49SM8600PLA just before xmas Tv Mainboard Fault

I'm very happy with it, cracking picture, has a sat HD tuner, not sure about the app's I only use Smart IPTV, AND a 6 year warranty.

No offence to anybody on here but I'd suggest having a look on AVForums, almost certainly find a thread or 12 asking the same question & as @shaun127 says buy from Richersounds or equivalent, Richersounds price-matched for me & with the guarantee it was a no-brainer buying from them.
Happy Hunting ;)
HH.

Sound advice as usual shaun, thanks mate. 👍

When your buying a tv then that's what your buying. Not an iptv device. The main thing is quality and durability. There are many cheap devices that attach to a tv to give you all the apps you wish.
I wouldn't choose one tv over another simply because you can sideload apps.

I wouldn't normally mate, I have a zgemma h5 for tv and a amazon tv box for the I**V, she who
set the budget absolutely hates clutter and the fact they have to sit under the telly really annoy
her, so as I said earlier I haven't a clue about tellys nowadays and was just wondering if at all
possible to combine all into one. 👍

ah feck i recognise that smartvue shit. thats pprobably the only usable apps on it unless u know turkish lol. i would jump at that without a llot of thought usually so learned a bit here.

I wont post the link to my new 55" 4K Sony Oled to replace a Pioneer Kuro Omg but what a tv picture and sound all around my room.Worth the overpriced i payed.Android.

@cactikid just swapped out my Kuro with a panasonic oled, Impressed I must say. Paid alot of money for that Kuro but its lasted me 14 years? (cant remember) and Ive enjoyed it and still going strong so got my moneys worth.

Buy tv and wonder why no sound as it comes with no speakers.Going to sell mine why i can.

Personally I would go for a stand alone tv and just use your existing device’s.
Don’t have all your eggs in one basket so too speak.
You only have two devices so tell her you will get rid of them when she scales down her collection of shoe’s, bag’s and makeup.
Just make sure you are not in striking distance when broach the subject. 😉
