you need to set the tuner up for your area.

enable the tuner

set your network id to whatever yours is

you need to put it there.

i used the config file from another image

and its in var/etc

yes, put your details on it and ftp it over to var/etc/

then go into settings and start the cam...

put it in the same config file on the next line.

your provider has told you not to use ccam?

Yes, cccam generally isn't allowed when using cable.

Remove any softcam you have installed already except mgcamd 1.38. Added mgcamd 1.38 from feeds if you haven't got it installed.

Extract the two files (depending on image) into /var/keys

Using linux compatible editor like notepad++, you need to edit the text file named, "newcamd.list" and add your line to the end of the line beginning "CWS ="

So say your line details are: noipaddress.com port username password this is then entered as:

CWS = noipaddress.com port username password 01 02 03 04 05 06 07 08 09 10 11 12 13 14

UPDATE:

The line may come as N: noipaddress.com port username password, etc....

In this case just change "N:" for "CWS ="

i'm feeling brave, will try to switch again lol.

could you use 2 sets of details on this, one for cable, one for sat?

I don't have both on my setup but I have read you can from one of the VIPs.

I'm guessing here but if you had both lines after one another, that should work. It may mean your box may take a little longer depending on service (sat or cable) as it will try each one and may fail depending on whether line it tries first is suitable for that service (sky / cable).
