got fixed dish and was debating weather its worth upgrading to Motorised

fixed dish seems to have pretty much what I want tbh

but its killing me knowing there is more out there and what I am missing lol

not really into porn tbh, football Ill watch if its on but not fussed if its not shown on what Ive got now

although I do enjoy Boxing and have seen big fights that are PPV in UK FTA on other sats, that would appeal to me

so I ask myself (and conince the wife) is it worth spending £100+ on a Motorised setup

what else is FTA in English that I can view that will make my wife say yes ! ?

I spoze this has been asked many times lol

I went straight to motorised and love it.

As you say, dish is pointing to 28 East 90% of the time but I do find it useful to find sport, mma, boxing, footy, rugby and motorsports FTA on other sats :)

Theres loads mate, films etc.
Sky box office boxing is quite often on 26e jsc sports 1 fTA! Full sky audio as well.
Bulsat 39e for footy and films with mgcamd 135a or softcams.
Plenty film channels sports.
The only way forward, you wont regret it.

cheers guys,Im sure ill take the plunge after Christmas :)
with more questions no doubt lol

rat you wont want to go back when you got so much choice of channels, when digi get his ass down the port hint , hint lol i'll be back up and running mate lol so much more choice of films, sport, xxx,HD content from 30w to 42e:Clap:

i didnt like it mate..
i started motor...then went fixed .
i had loads of probs with the motor and stuff ..and spent most time turning the thing rather than watchin stuff hahahahahah
if u happy with sky only stay fixed .
but the majority do prefer motor ....just givin u another side lol

I appreciate that Chris :) I'm sure there must be downsides as you pointed out

A fixed dish has 2 major advantages; speed and reliability. I use a multi-satellite fixed dish because it gives instant channel change and will continue to produce signal well beyond most motorised. Yes you are limited to the amount of choice of satellites, but the bonus is that you can run as many receivers as you like with no affect.

So it boils down to a larger/wider choice of foreign channels, or select the best ones and accept the alternative benefits. :)

Btw, many years back when we never knew where the next hack was coming from I would have chose motorised every time. In the modern world with cs methods, it comes second every time in my opinion. Hope my view helps you rather than complicates your choice lol.

Some very good point from pinkhelmets.

I mainly use 28E, 19E, 16E and 13E.

I'm sure I could set these up with a fixed dish.

Currently, my TM800 turns the dish and so the TM600 upstairs can only watch channels on the same sat as is in use downstairs.

Plus, having all these sats makes managing all those bouquets a pain in the ass. I won't have to do that if you go motor ;)

cheers Pinky good advice and another option to deffo think about :)

for me i have a fixed sky dish with a quad lnb (have an octo just have to put it up) and a 1 m motorised dish you can always have the best of both ;),this set up works best for me but at the end of the days its down to what you think is of the most benifit to you

Something I've found with my TM2600 motor is that if you don't use it for a while, next time you do it goes slightly off position, especially noticeable on the weaker sats. But a quick look every Sunday morning at what our Spanish friends are up to followed by some Turkish culture seems to keep the whole thing balanced.

has to motorised

Motorised is definitely worth it over a basic fixed dish but I think I'm going to switch to a Toroidal dish this spring.
Up to 16 satellite positions covering a 40 degree arc on one dish.
No need to wait for the motor to move as you can switch channels instantaneously.
The best of both worlds I think.
I'm going to go for 1W,7E,13E,16E,19E,23.5E,28E and 39E initially .
I will channel hop to my hearts content and no need to worry about realigning due to high gales.

I went straight in with the motorised now I'm looking to get an additional fixed dish so that I can actually watch the football without pissing off the missus in the other room. A fixed with offset LNB's sounds good but I'm not sure I can within reason have a big enough dish hanging off the side of my house to achieve it.

a sly dish and motorised dish works best for me as the mises is happy and im happy ;)

motorised is way forward wen match is on or boxing you wont miss anything also get lots fta stuff i use mbc on 26e alot some really good movies on there
then have bullsat with prem etc i tend to use 7e premleage tv for footy and Viasat there not fta they show ppv boxing on 19.2e in hd and 26e

I went moterised but found 13 and 28 is the only ones I watch, so a fixed or monoblock setup would be best even for myself...

Having said that even after going in satelites I still find 90% what I watch is still from newsgroups (p2p) which cant be beat for TV series/films/Hd contact/XXX, only area is weak on is say live Sports or PPV events, id have to stream it or download it after its over.

i started with motorised but to be honest i only ever use it for 13e italia and jsc mostly on the odd occasion 19e.
i would say 98% time on astra as the misses can use it easily enough as long as she dont move dish lol.
But i have also set up multi-satellite fixed dish so i get 13e and 28e in conservatory and can hide out the way when soaps crap is on.
