Hi all

I have a shop and i have put in 5 cameras for security.

they are all conected to the Digital Video Recorders box and ive connected the box to my Wireless Modem/Router using a Ethernet Cable.

The modem/router is connected to my main desktop PC (wired).

I want to know what i need to do to configure the wireless router to allow me to look at the camera from home (external location)

Can someone kindly help me out i have been trying for some time now but no luck...Im with Talk Talk and its ADSL Broadband connection I have.

from my research i think having a Static IP makes it easier but how do i know if i have a static IP Address?

Any help would be very much appreciated

Thanks

what does the box do/look like (the one that controlls the cameras) - is it a pc?

Hi mate the box is simply the Digital Video Multiplex Recorder (DVMR)...it has an ethernet port, VGA, Camera connections, S-VHS and power and has capability of recording on DVD real time of the camera.]

the make is LJD Deltaware

I'm guessing you need to set up port forwarding on your router and yes it is best to set up a static IP on your DVR box so that your port forwarding will always forward traffic on the port to the correct device (i.e. the DVR box).

At the shop, you need to go to What Is My IP Address? - IP Address Lookup, Internet Speed Test, IP Info, plus more so that you can get your IP address. Then at home, you need to type in your IP address into your web browser followed by the port number and if the DVR box is configured to direct incoming connections to a user interface, then you should be sorted:

The IP address from home would look like this: aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd:xxxx where xxxx is yout chosen port number.

You have to go into the router management screen to configure port forwarding. If you go to the shop PC, you can go to start, run and type in "cmd" and press enter (this is if it is a windows based computer).

From here, you can type in "ipconfig" and press enter. It will give you the "default gateway". That is the IP address that you have to type into your web browser to access the user interface for your router.

Let me know if you need more assistance.

If you're stuck with your router and stuff, let us know the make and model of your router and what operating system you're on

hi

thanks for your kind help...much appreciated...i am using the wireless router which talk talk gave me it is a D-Link one

How do i know what port number to use?

As for the cabling - is that setup correctly how i said first? or does the cabling need to change? I have a ethernet cable connected from the DVR to the rotuer.

How do i know if i have a static IP Address? I am a little unsure on this?

according to the manual, it does have a web interface : Adata Ltd - Support Library - Quality Digital Security (Deltawave)

find the IP of the device, type that into internet explorer and you should have the web interface where you can change it's settings. but as mentioned above, you#ll need to set up port forwarding in.

i have the CD but it broke is there a way of getting it back

i have the CD but it broke is there a way of getting it back

probably only by contacting the company who supplied it and asking for support.

BUT if the device has a web browser built in - you might not need it. Some routers allow u to see what devices are connected to it, from this list you'll be able to determine the IP address of the device. From there, put the IP address into your web browser and that will give u the config screen of the device.

Hi all,

I have taken a print screen of the wireless router port forwarding page...i am a little unsure how i fill this informaiton in...can anyone help me here please?

I dont know what the ip address is and port number should be etc?

My wireless Modem/Router im using in the shop is DSL-2640R

You set the IP address as the Ip address of your DVR and the start and end port numbers are the same. You can choose. Try any 4 digit number, there is a list of which ones are reserved and which ones to avoid, but I cant get that out right now.

In the TCP part, see if you can select "both".

Your IP address should be the same if it asks for an IP address for the second box.

Your IP address for the DVR can be found in the router config pages under DHCP clients somewhere or in the Web Interface of the DVR itself.

Your wire set up is fine mate.

when you sya IP of the device as in the DVR you mean right?

I am just tryign to think how to get this but its puzzling me..as i dont know how to get it?

IF i open my desktop which is connected to my Router and type in "ipconfig" in the cmd prompt will that show me the DVR Device?

log in to your router by typing your ip address in Internet explorer then scroll down you see the attached device click and you will see it

No it will show you the ip address of your pc and also the gateway ip address which is your router

You need to access yr router and look at the devices connected to it and it should list the DVR with it's ip address

hi guys

i opened my router to check the ip address of the DVR box however in the attached list there only appears my MAIN DESKTOP machine which is wired to the modem and my laptop which is running wirelessly...

I have connected the Ethernet cable from the modem to the Box but it isnt appearing in the router?

I am using the DSL-2640R modem

Can anyone please help me out im really stuck?

i pressume you can access the menu on the monitor you've got attached to it, see if there's anything in there that mentions 'network' or setup. sounds like it's connected to the router but the networking side of the device isn't activated.

Hi

I found a TCP/IP option in the Camera menu and when i checked the router again after accessing this it now shows the DVR and its ip address as "192.168.1.2"

Now in the router website i have created a new PORT and set the IP as 192.168.1.2 and the Public Port x 2 as 800.

How do i now access the camera externally? is there more configuration i need to do?

righ in the router PORT FORWARDING I have done the following:

I have used port number 805 and set the TCP/UDP as ALL and the IP ADDRESS i have selected is the DVRs IP Address

I went to WhatismyIPAddress website and got the IP Address of the desktop connected (by wire) to the wireless modem/router. and typed this IP followed by the port number - 805 but it gave me a Page cannot be displayed

Can someone tell me what i need to do now ?
