Hi just read all this thread near the end there was a thing about putting the 00000001 folder from folder 4 to folder 3 nobody confirmed this to be the case. So I am confused do I put this folder in folder 3 or not? Cheers

Just follow the guide the way its wrote m8. ballys guide works, i think the moving of the folder was for an off line install

Ok Peeps,
I am just about ready to start my softmod, after messing with my router i eventually got my wii to connect to the net and done an update to 4.2e. Now this may seem a daft question but on the first step it says copy and paste the files from folder 1 to the Root of the SD card, my question is do i just copy and paste to the card or do i need to do it different to get it into the root??
Sorry for sounding stupid but i just dont know

the root is the sd not in a file m8

Here goes again, i have followed all the screen shots, i am upto the stage where i have cory & paste the contents of folder 3, insert it back in the wii, open homebrew channel, that is fine, when it opens i have 2 menus.... DOP-IOS and WAD manager, i then press the home button and get the other options, when i click on launch bootmii i just get a black screen???????????????? any ideas peeps, it was going so well...........

Sounds like the boot mii files aint there. When you copy over the contents of new folders you need to merge and replace the files when it asks you to. I thin kit goes Merge/copy and replace/copy and replace then eject your sd and take it to the wii.

nope this aint sinking in with me bud, i think i may need to get a mate round to mine who knows what all this merging is all about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just tried it but cant find the option.

It does it automaticaly when you copy the files across a message will pop up asking you if you want to merge or copy and replace you just click yes.

At last, done it, well i would like to thank Dogtoffee and Sargie for their help, i have not got a clue about this wii hacking thing but the Guide is first class and if i managed to do it in the end then anyone can.

Hi well a big thanks to Bally I have softmodded my wii and put usb loader downloaded some games works a treat woo hoo. Only question I have left are.
1 How do I download pictures for the games on the hdu? And nand backup
2 what is the nand?
3 If I do a nand backup now will that mean if I have to do a restore the wii will be exactly as it is now or back to original state?

It may no longer be safe to update wii software to 4.2e using online method as there is a new version. If you wish to use this guide to update to 4.2e please use an offline method.
hi all, ive got a brand new unmodded wii and it went online for the first time yesterday, it updated and now shows as being 4.2e.
do you think i will be ok using this tut on it ?

Yep ive done 2 recently using the online update method. Both work fine.
