There is a couple of API routines you can use. I can't remember then offhand but I can dig them out if you are really interested. Been a few years since I last had to lock a system down that way - I'm all NTFS now.

How would you do that? There's no access to the code that Microsoft uses (although a simple solution would be to use low level disk access to get the serial number of the hard disk).

few things to think about

even if you make it one download a day someone will download and put it on another site where you have unlimited downloads.

making it username and password protected... someone will sell on ebay with there username and password - yeah ok you will find out who (if you buy it from ebay to find out that is) but still how long would a member have to know you or be known to get approved ?, if a long time it will put people off and hopefully we all feel the same and everyone should get it free but learn like we all do!

last thing i think its great what you guys are doing for the members if they dont say thank you dont worry i am greatful and so are many of the real members

unfortunately doubt if there is a 'secure' way of stopping these idiots from selling etc elsewhere unless something along the lines of when they start to run the prog a random series of letter/numbers comes up and they have to enter that on your website with their username and password and they get a code to open the prog, that way you can see whose username keeps logging in to get a code to open the prog ?

No idea if that is worth all the trouble but may give you some kind of idea ??

Its one code file per day, per person, not one keygen download.

Once a person has retrieved that days codes, they cant download the file again until the next day. However, the codes are stored on the users computer(hidden), so they can calculate as many codes as they like.

Thats about the best we can do.

How about this easy solution to the mess - Someone could PM the dumps to a couple of the users who have grasped the method of manually working it out (check the posts for this) and then them people could publish the final table to use in a post. Now because it is in table form, everyone will have to smarten up on how to read it, plus you can not force it into a keygen because only a hand full of people have the original dumps.

you could have a minimum post count but that will bring alot of nonsense posts lol... not laughing at this but we have done this before with downloads of cable stuff and you should watch the amount of crap posts toll up.

there has to be another solution to this im sure... i dont want people stealing your hard work.. and to be honest i dont have freeview either to test how it works what you guys do, so i could get an idea.

how does it work ?

do you put a code in and work out the code that you need... what is the method used if you want to say or not ?

maybe a php script to calculate the codes when someone puts them in and it spits it out ?

i dunno lol it would be interesting to see how this works but i could write something small depending on the calculations ???

i wrote the boxkey database that used to spit out the boxkeys so if not to much work

I realise that I am new here, and trying to learn but for some of us older members it doesn't come easy .

I have been involved with sats, I'm a bit new to the DTTV stuff but willing to learn,

I don't want to clock up lots of no content post, minimum post counts tend to generate lots of rubish that will slow the boards down.

Have to agree with ivrm. I was a member at another forum that imposed a post count (I already had 2000+) and although it kept out many of the newbies just looking to steal the information, it also removed any new blood from the forum and just left a handful of people bickering with each other. Someone with a low post count (not me) or maybe who hasn't joined yet may soon have other useful info for us freeview users, or can maybe improve existing progs/keygens. Who knows?

Once the keygen works with the site, i will start a thread for account requests.

Oh, and the new sites coming online tonight. But only dommac will have access to allow the keygen to use it.

@Mickie D, It uses an algo instruction (3 or 4 digits, 1-3) that tell the box to do different things to the internal referances(so called line 21-28). Nix's explanation should help you if you want to do something. Cant really explain it very well myself, but i understand how it works.
