usb to serial

just got a usb to serial cable for the laptop. Cable has HL340 printed on it. plugged a null modem cable into it to flash a dreambox and it doesnt connect.. i have installed the driver that came with it and done a search on the net and found another driver.. neither of them work.. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what to do to get it working?

does the serial adaptor show up as installed?

are you sure you have a null modem cable, straight thru rs232 cables ar identical..

have you check baud rate stop bits parity etc on com port in device manager ?


i have just been sent one for work on my netbook win7 and it receives but wont send, talking to one of the network support guys and he says they are a poor device he has 5 or 6 that are duff in some way
