tomtom go 910

ok mate i struggled big time doing mine its so confusing so here goes ill make it as easy as poss for you and youll get the most possible out of your 910!!!

ill also at end put link to all files youll need

youll end up with navcore Navcore.8.412.1236.rev1.1 with map

Installation :
1- Save the contents (wole of hard drive) in a safe place on your pc (is that just copy from 910 & paste somewhere on my PC?)

2- Clear all the contents of your GO910 and do a quick reformat # (Do you do that via My Computer? If so, Fat16 or Fat32, or doesn't it matter?)
3-install the folder ASR (20450368 bytes) to the root of your GO910

4-Install the folder LoquendoTTS (downloaded) to the root of your GO910
its in the folder SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack

5-From the saved copy of your TomTom(before you formatted) : in the folder LoquendoTTS make a copy folders Dutch, EnglishGb, EnglishUs, French, German, Italian, PortuguesePt, Spanish (Are these all the languages?) then paste them inside the folder LoquendoTTS (that you just put into the tomtom root) on your GO910. Close the folder LoquendoTTS (Presumably the LoquendoTTS folder I would have just installed on the GO 910?)

6-Open the folder : SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack (downloaded)

7-Install SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack contents of the folder to the root of your GO910 (presumably you mean straight onto the 910 (this is what you mean by "root") - not in another folder already on the 910?)

8-from your 910 hard drive root delete the folders Navcore.8.412.1236@ tomtom.com, Outsourced.8412 and the file system 5.5128

9-on your tomtom 910 hard drive root unzip the folder switchfiles.zip (which will be in the Navcore Basicpack folder already on the 910?), open the folder swichfiles, open the folder Config, copy the files setconfig.txt, version.txt and paste them in the root of your GO910 (again, straight onto the main 910 drive, not into another folder?)

10.-open the file setconfig.txt, and delete everything , now copy and paste the following 2 lines and save and close the file setconfig.txt
i have my name on there you can wright what ever you like in stead of martin

runclean
changedtext:TomTom GO 910 LIVE martin (Do I type them exactly like this, on separate lines?)

11-from the tomtom root delete the folders switchfiles.zip and switchfiles

12-Open the folder : SE_ttsystem.8.412.1236.rev1.1 (downloaded) and Copy the file ttsystem and paste it in the root of your GO910

- Files : antitheftw.bmp, autorun.inf, splashw.bmp, suspendw.bmp, tomtom.ico ... (Any others?)

installing the map (ill give a link for you) Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_825_2157 is the one youwant its same map as 159 version but asr and alg works (159 you wont get neither) (( i also had to put guam map folder from my backup back onto the root of the tomtom 910 so i could select the uk map))

1-Install the folder of your map (downloaded) to the root of your GO910

2-place the folder Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher (downloaded) to your pc (that's PC, not the TomTom?) main hard drive and open it

3-Double click on : RunMeforAllAutomatic.cmd select option 1 and then option 1 again if asked imput yourtomtom drives letter (from 'My Computer'?) and your unique tomtom id (Presumably I get this from TT Home?).(sometimes it finds both itself) once complete it will ask you to pres any key and the keygen will close

4-safely disconect (this bit I'm never sure about - I did it wrong the other day and it locked up completely - thought I'd trashed it! How should I do this safely?) tomtom hardware from pc and then remove from cradle let it reboot by itself and Wait for the message ( about a minute ) on tom tom screen in top right corner Create ttgo.bak ("Create ttgo.bak" will be the message I shall wait for?).

JUST DO THE ABOVE FOR EACH CONTRY YOU WANT THE CAMERA FOR YOU CAN DO THEM ALL AT ONCE BUT IT GETS A BIT MESSY AND CONFUSING

if you want to change the splash screen when you turn on your tomtom go here and follow instructions (cange the links to http)

htp://tomtom.gps-data-team.com/splash_screen.php

thers no voices the download ive done or you youwillget them whe yu put your backed up tts back on your root of tomtom 910 t tart of all proceedings

hered the folder or you matey

The euphoria of your post is still with me:thumbsup: but can I just clarify some of the points above? My comments are in red (of course!). Sorry if some or all are obvious, but just want to make sure.

My main concern is completely stuffing up my 910, although I'm sure I won't. BUT presumably, if I copy the entire contents of my 910 over to my PC, then if anything does go wrong I simply reformat the GO 910 again and copy the contents back onto it and it will fire up again as before?

Nothing else to do?

Thanks again for your post! You really ought to post your guide in its own thread. At first I thought "Oh crap, that looks confusing" but when you actually read through it, it's rather straight forward (except for the few items above, but then that's probably me being a bit dim!).

A quick update.

I've copied from the TT 910 via TT Home, but don't know if it's copied everything?

I've also done a manual copy via My Computer, but the transferred files amount to 8.98GB, whereas the amount showing as on the TT 910 is 9.07GB?

Is there something that cannot be copied, or hidden? Anything crucial, or is this just what happens when you copy files over?

Cheers.

size seems fine matey

the tour is a spelling mistake for four files

ill have a look proper this afty as im late for work now lol

if i can just put a suggestion in to make your backup of the 910 use winrar
(1) open winrar click on tomtom icon >>add >>browse >>Desktop>>name your file some thing like 910backup.rar
(2) select compression method (best)
(3) tick test archived files
(4) click ok

it will take about 20mins to make a full backup
when it has finished you can if you want make it self extracting by creating a SFX archive
select the archive you have just created >>click the SFX icon >> advanced SFX Options type in the path to extract TO the drive letter shown in my computer for your TOMTOM >> OK

then if you need to restore you just click on the sfx icon and it will put your TOMTOM back to how it was
to put the files back individually open the RAR backup and extract to the TOMTOM

Thanks so much guys!

Well I'm doing a back up via WinRAR, but it estimates it's gonna take 6 hours and I'm halfway through - probably because of all the music and stuff on there!

Once done, I'll take the plunge and give it a go. I'll let you know how I get on - eek!

Again, thanks for all of your time and help. Much appreciated.

Sorry guys, I've hit a problem!

However, I think I know where I went wrong. It was late, I was tired and should have waited until tomorrow, but boys will be boys!

As I said, I think I know where I went wrong (point below - I didn't allow enough time before taking the TT out of the cradle) and it has now locked up. All I can do is wait until tomorrow (for the battery to die) and then hope to resurrect it.

However, going through the various posts was confusing (the bits where I asked for clarification and your response) and so may have done something wrong there?

So what I have done (for my purpose as well as anybody else) is go back over the various posts and then put together a revised guide based on what you have told me. It is below and perhaps you could run your eye over it to confirm I have everything correct and in the right order? My bits are in red.

This is a summary of your guide (with a few points I'm still not sure about);

Installation:

1- Save the contents of the TT 910 (whole of hard drive) in a safe place on your pc.

2- Clear all the contents of your GO910 by going into ‘My Computer’ and then do a quick reformat (just right click on the TT icon/drive and select ‘format’ and then ‘quick format’).

3- Copy the folder ‘ASR’ (20450368 bytes) that was downloaded to the root of your GO910.

4- Copy the folder ‘LoquendoTTS’ (that you downloaded) to the root of your GO910
(its in the folder ‘SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack’ that you downloaded).

5- From the saved/backup copy of your TomTom (that you copied to your pc before you formatted); in the folder ‘LoquendoTTS’ copy folders ‘Dutch, EnglishGb, EnglishUs, French, German, Italian, PortuguesePt, Spanish’ then paste them inside the new folder ‘LoquendoTTS’ (that you just copied into the Tomtom root) on your GO910. Close the folder ‘LoquendoTTS’ on the TT 910. (This I’m not sure about as I also have two other folders called ‘EnglishTe’ & ‘lib’, plus 40 other files and 1 document called ‘LicenseCode’ – do I not copy those too?).

6- Open the folder: ‘SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack’ that you just downloaded to your pc.

7- Copy the contents of the folder ‘SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack’ (that you just downloaded) to the root of your GO910.

8- From your 910 hard drive root delete the folders ‘Navcore.8.412.1236@ tomtom.com’, ‘Outsourced.8412’ and the file ‘system 5.5128’ (This I’m not sure about; why delete them when you’ve just put them on as part of the files contained within the ‘SE_Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack’ that you just downloaded and copied to the TT root?)

9- On your Tomtom 910 hard drive root unzip the folder ‘switchfiles.zip’ which is in the ‘Navcore.8.412.1236.Basicpack’ folder (that you have just put on the TT root drive), open the folder ‘swichfiles’, open the folder ‘Config’, copy the files ‘setconfig.txt’ & ‘version.txt’ and paste them in the root of your GO910.

10- Open the file ‘setconfig.txt’ on your 910 and delete everything, then copy and paste the following 2 lines and then save and close the file ‘setconfig.txt’. (I have my name on there but you can wright what ever you like instead of martin). These must be copied exactly like this, on two separate lines.

runclean
changedtext:TomTom GO 910 LIVE martin

11- On the Tomtom root, delete the folders ‘switchfiles.zip’ and ‘switchfiles’.

12- Open the folder: ‘SE_ttsystem.8.412.1236.rev1.1’ (that you just downloaded onto your pc) and Copy the file ‘ttsystem’ and paste it in the root of your GO910.

13- Copy the file ‘suspend.ogg’ (that you just downloaded onto your pc) to the root of your GO910.

14- Add the folders and files you want from your backup:

- Folders: art, audiobooks, contacts, ephem, helpme, itn, mp3, photos, raster, sounds & zip. (I don’t have the first 5 of these folders, but I do have various other folders)

- Files: antitheftw.bmp, autorun.inf, splashw.bmp, suspendw.bmp, tomtom.ico. (I don’t have the ‘antitheftw.bmp’ file).

Installing the Maps

You need to install the maps ‘Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_825_2157’ which has the ASR and ALG features. The version ending in 2159 is the same, but doesn’t have these features. You may also need to put a copy of the ‘Guam’ map folder (from your TomTom backup you put onto your pc) onto the root of the Tomtom 910 so you can select the UK map.

1- Copy the folder of your ‘Western_and_Central_Europe_2GB_825_2157’ map (that you have downloaded as above) to the root of your GO910.

2- Place the folder ‘Easyusetools_for Keygen_Mapcheck_Metacheck_ttsystempatcher’ (that you have downloaded) to your pc main hard drive and open it.

3- Double click on: ‘RunMeforAllAutomatic.cmd’ and when the window appears select option ‘1’ and then option ‘1’ again & if asked input your Tomtom drive letter which is shown in ‘My Computer’ and your unique TomTom Device ID. You can obtain this by turning on the 910, tap the screen & along the bottom on the right you will see a little icon and version. Tap screen there & it will open a new screen. On there the top line is your Device ID (copy it over all in capitals) (Sometimes it finds both itself) Once complete, it will ask you to press any key and the keygen will then close.

4- Safely disconnect the TomTom hardware from your pc and then remove from cradle. Let it reboot by itself and wait (for about a minute) for the message “Create ttgo.bak” on the Tomtom screen (in top right corner).

5- Make your settings and then switch off and then turn on the GO910 to properly save the configuration.

I think I went wrong at point 4 above - now waiting long enough before removing the TT from the cradle.

If my plan to let the battery die doesn't work, then presumably I can just hook it back up to the cradle and reformat it and try again?

If so, can you just confirm that I have the sequence of events right above?

One last thing, I don't know if you saw my previous post (it may have been on a previous page so maybe you didn't) but some of the files that I downloaded didn't unpack properly. I tried to do them manually so the folder names weren't too long and I think they should be ok.

I'll get there..........................

Cheers!

your over complicating the matter matey i know your deleting things you just put there etc..... just follow the guide to the letter and youll be good

dont use any other file than what ive listed if you havnt got some of the languages just crack on without them anttheft splash is imperative either if ilist them from your back up and you havnt got them then just skip them

if your rar wont unrar properley then you may have problems what is the full titel to the download i sent you?

.......rar ?????

Maybe -that's me all over! I just like to get things right. I just thought that if I set it out the way I understood it, and this was correct, then it would help others by not having to read through loads of posts. Does the way I summarised it all look right to you?

Well I managed to have a quick tinker this morning before I left for work (missus gave me some earhole for leaving late but hey - what does she expect?). Now I tried the reset button - the one at the front WHICH ISN'T A DAMN RESET BUTTON!!

I then remembered reading on a post that it wasn't a reset button (then what is the hole there for??) and that the reset button was infact at the back or underneath. So I took a look and then found it - no wonder nothing happened when I kept shoving a pin in the hole in the front.......................

Anyhoo, I reset it and hey presto, it came up ok. Now believe it or not, I forgot about the 'CreateTT.bak' file AGAIN when it booted up. So I switched it off and then on again and it came up fine, but the little flashing sign at the top left 'CreateTT.bak' didn't reappear - is that a problem and is there anyway of getting it to reappear? I think I was still tired from last night...........................:yawn2:

So I took it with me this morning to work and tried it out (having quickly sneaked the voice files on that I had from my 910 and celebrity ones downloaded - made us a few more minutes late ).

I have to say that all seemed fine and again this afternoon on the way home (accompanied by Ozzy Osborne ;) ) I used the motorway and the jolly old ALG popped up! So all seems fine (ish).

There is one problem; sometimes when I boot it up (or close it down) the screen momentarily goes all blurred/fuzzy (2 maybe 3 seconds) and then it's fine. Do you think that's anything to worry about?

Oh, one other problem - my voices deserted me this morning (started with Ozzy - ok, then Darth - Ok but then he went silent so changed to computer woman (you know, the posh bird - Jane?) and she said diddly!

This afternoon, all seemed to be working well.

I'll now try the second half of your guidance about the cams and things and will post back what happens.

One last thing - the screen still shows "910", which is fine with me, but I seem to recall somebody saying their screen showing 930 or 940?

Oh yes, and the files you kindly put up for download - please see my post on page 2 of this thread - 20 files wouldn't unpack for the reasons stated.

Cheers!

the fuzzy screen is noral matey every ones does it mmine included.
as for voices mine are fine matey recheck them.
the 910 bit you can also change remember the 2 lines ypu added to the notepad change the 910 to 930 or 940 (before your name. as for the download not unraring im not sure,

make a nnew folder on ur desctop and put the rar file in it. rename it to 1.rar and right click it select extract here and see what happens matey let me know

the hole in the front is the mic.

double click the .rar file so it opens in winrar and then rename the folders etc inside which are too big to something smaller then you will beable to unrar them

can I do the same thing with my TT520? make it behave like a TT540?

Guys I would like to say a big thank you for this file, I'm getting it now, so I'll try it later, but if it works, and it should....THANK YOU

I hopefully get my TT910 tomorrow.. Can't wait to try and convert it to a 930 for the ALG.

Next job will be getting video's to play!

Just an idea, rather than use the tom tom to keep moving files, deleting files, and changing would it not be better to do it all on the PC, just usin 2 windows, then transfer the lot over ?

nice post though, I'll get round to trying it when I've time.

Successfully updated my TT910.

It took about an hour, including backing up the original data. Definately worth doing!

I cannot get the remote to work though. Does anyone else's remote work with Navcore 8?

you cant use the 910 920 930 remote with te new navcore mate there infrared, you can use the 710 720 730 bluetooth remote though
