The Twenty 20 World Cup

we're in the group death - india, south africa and west indies! Good to see pakistan going through, dont think cricket is the same without them...

Well i predict some very good matches now only weak team is Ireland rest can beat one another on a given day!

On Sri Lanka i just get annoyed watching that Malinga guy what the fook is he doing lol?
Surely his bowling is not right

Another boring batting display from India, I knew as soon as Ireland got that small total that India would go for the slow and steady route...at least Dhoni tried a few big hits this time round lol

Well done Pakistan, it was a big victory and a great performance.

Coming fixtures

Those Indian games are going to be awesome, can't wait for them to happen.

I will be going to this Fridays and Sundays match, cant wait to make some noise.............

Munkey, I was also at the Bangladesh match and the atmosphere was amazing, its a shame they convescated our horns and whistles as this would have added to the atmosphere!!!

Boring boring India. Without Sehwag in the side we look very ordinary, Dhoni is not a natural number 3 and his strike rate has been falling since last year, I think it's close to 100 which is shocking for 20/20. I don't think India are as good a side as people think. We had massive luck against the Bangladeshi's with dropped catches and poor run out attempts otherwise that game would have been much closer.

I feel for the poor Irish lads, having played the Indians late last night they're now playing a Super 8 game the next morning, only Ireland the minnows of the WC could be treated like this. It's pretty poor from the ICC.

The ICC have lost touch with what the fans want. The ban on musical instruments was lead by them and not the ECB, it's frankly ridiculous and reminds me of the stops that the ACB put on the Indians during the 08 summer tour. It's one thing banning Coke and other ambush marketing events but this is not in the spirit of cricket. Playing licensed songs between overs is BORING, give me the dhol any day of the week.

I'll be covering the games tomorrow as well, I'll be the photographer wearing the official Indian cap and with the smallest camera there. Shout Munkey if you see me lol!

Cool, I will look out for you, I will be wearing a scary mask with the india coulours painted on it, you may have noticed me during the Bangladesh or Ireland match, I was sitting in the fox road stand for both games!!!

West Indies beat India, big difference was everything India hit in air found a fielder and everything West Indies hit in air either fell short of fielder or fell inbetween fielders

But its bout time India got a wake up call

Poor batting performance from India apart from Yuvraj who was brilliant the rest didn't do well at all playing poor shots!

Same with Pakistan the batting cost them as they would have thought restricting Sri Lanka to 150 after the start they had was a decent effort but again apart for Younus Khan the rest were below par!

Makes this group very interesting in my opinion with South Africa and Windies both with a win a piece.

There is hope for England now lol should they beat India on Sunday PMSL

Does Dhoni think this is test cricket ??? I am very dissapointed in him cos he can smack a ball, maybe the captaincy is restricting him.

Does anyone think we will see Chris Gayle crack a smile even if they win it.

That Malinga fella makes my blood boil with his chucking. I know I am repeating myself but how the hell can they say that is legal.

Dhoni has been disappointing which is a surprise as he is probably the best wicketkeeper batsman in the game but he seems to be to determined on playing the ball for ones and twos he is a brilliant striker of the ball and i would of thought with Sehwag out injured he would take over that type of role!

As for Malinga what can i say fooking unbelievable he gets away with that!

West Indies seem to be doing okay could well be the surprise team uts so hard to pick a winner in this tournament but i reckon winner will be either Sri Lanka or the South Africans and maybe India have a good chance depends on their next performance though!

"Malinga is a specialist fast bowler with a rare round-arm action, sometimes referred to as a sling action, which leads to his nickname, "Malinga the Slinga"......

The cricket reference text Wisden has noted that Malinga's delivery action is similar to "slinging". Malinga has said that his unique action was a result of learning to play cricket exclusively with a tennis ball.[1] His unorthodox technique is perhaps most closely related to that of the renowned Australian Test fast bowler Jeff Thomson[citation needed], who was regarded as the fastest and most dangerous bowler of the 1970s. Typically, younger bowlers are encouraged to deliver the ball with their arm near vertical to remove or reduce direction variables.
Malinga's action has attracted great comment, but it is important to note that it has never been questioned, and that he has not been cited or called for throwing or otherwise using an illegal action."

Yes nara you are absolutely correct, he has never been cited because he keeps his arm within the limit of not being bent any more than 15 degrees but it just looks so wrong.

They are working on a small device which suspect bowlers can wear during a match and it will tell them the angle of the bend in the arm during every delivery and it won't impede them when bowling.

To us it looks so wrong but I guess its legal, I think the arm should have to come over and not around but I don't make the rules.

Just so it doesnt look like I am picking on over countries bowlers.....I think what Chris Broad was doing was wrong and should be have been stopped (which it has been).
If you didnt see what he was doing.......on his last few paces before bowling he threw his non bowling arm out and pointed away to try to distract the batsman to look where he pointed just as he released the ball. I noticed him doing it against Pakistan but nothing was said until he did it against SA and they questioned it and the ICC have warned him not to do it.

As you say, it just looks wrong! However, it doesn't matter whether you bowl over-arm, round-arm, or even under-arm, as long as you stay within that 15 degrees it's perfectly legal.

I'm not sure why that Wiki article compared his bowling action to Jeff Thomson's though. Thomson was one of the fastest ever, but his bowling action was nowhere near as unorthodox as Malinga's.

.......and they didn't wear protection then! Can you imagine being hit in the face by one of those?

I think Gattings broken nose had a lot to do with the face guards....he looked like he had been punched senseless by Mike Tyson and then the journalist asked him where did the ball hit you....classic.

Just got back from the game's at the Oval, congrats to Pakistan as a win against Ireland will see them in the semi finals. Another 20-30 runs from NZ and this game would have been much better, but they were pretty poor with the bat and ball and deserved to lose. Gul bowled exceptional and continues to show why he is one of the worlds if the the best bowler in the world.

SA were exceptional as usual, WI put up a decent fightback but there were just too many runs on the board to chase down. Its a shame that none of the WI big hitters got going and Simmons did not deserve being on the losing side today. His 77 of 50 deliveries was a great knock but only two other players made it into the teens which speaks volumes for SA's bowling attack.

Big game for England and India tomorrow, the losers will be knocked out of the competition which will really hurt. I fancy India to do just enough to nick it, after all they don't seem to have any others gears to kick into. It's a stay of execution IMO, SA will knock them out on Tuesday regardless. Damn you Dhoni, why did you have to pick a fight with Sehwag???!!!!

I agree but with India in a little spot of bother i expect them to come out firing and win England and possibly even South Africa but for this to happen the batting really needs to fire which we all know can! South Africa look the best by a mile in this tournament but we know strange things can happen in this game and it only takes one individual to come out and have a blinder!

Tomorrows game i think India will win for England to have any chance they will need to play Harbhajan and the other Indian spinners well i always get the feeling when England play against Harbhajan they are very vulnerable!

I worry about Stuart Broad lol imagine him bowling to Yuvraj he will be shitting it

I think Stuart Broad has come on quite a bit since the last world cup and Yuvraj is playing injured and out of shape but not out of form.

India don't have the fire power to win the tournament, Dhoni is a shadow of the player he was two years ago, bad team decisions, poor batting performances, average behind the stumps, I think he has a lot to do to turn India around. In fact his silence or 'ask the phsyio' statement pretty much summed up his poor attitude to the game, he needs to pick himself up and get on with it but since he is in such poor form I don't think India stand a chance.

No chance of beating SA mate, they are in shit hot form and will knock us out if England don't tomorrow.

I agree with jaffa about Dhoni. The Indians are all playing for their own personal batting averages rather than swinging the bat. Gambhir although great is not the type of player who will take advantage of the opening fielding restrictions which places a huge burden on R Sharma. Dhoni refuses to bowl R P Singh who is in great form and this could prove to be very costly as Zaheer is bowling whilst injured. R P Singh was also the leading wicket taker in IPL 2.

A few catches from today (they need some serious colour correction)
