Virgin Media been doing service work in my area again today so was without service for a few hours. All seemed ok when it came back on till I started watching the Celtic, then the Man City games on BT Sport.
Every now and then got the spinny thing, then an error either saying I wasn't connected to the internet or another one saying I had too many streams running.

I noticed the World Web symbol in my task bar to indicate I have no internet access. Also my ethernet is showing no ethernet. The thing is, I do have internet access!!!
Haven't a clue as to how this happened apart from thinking it may be due to a windows update. When my BT Sport was playing up I rebooted both my router and pc and there was an update which configured when I restarted.

There is a restore point for today but I'm quite sure my restores have never been successful on win 10.
Any suggestions welcome.

EDIT... Just remembered the screenshot,lol.

I restarted this pc a number of times to no avail. Just pottered around in the kitchen, used the bathroom, made a coffee. Came back and my pc was asleep. Woke it up and it's sorted. Knew I'd crack it
2 hours of trying everything my brilliant mind could think of for it only to go and fix itself. The trick it appears is to go and hide so you can't see it take the piss. 😂😂😂

This describes our work IT guy.

Are you available for hire ? 😂

The Windows status for internet connectivity also known as Network Connectivity Status Indicator (NCSI) works in two critical steps to check the internet’s status that the computer is connected to. These two tasks are performed independently.

Task 1 - NCSI performs a DNS lookup for www.msftconnecttest.com, and then sends out an HTTP Get request to http://www.msftncsi.com/ncsi.txt and downloads the text file. This is a plain-text file that contains “Microsoft connect test.”

Task 2 - NCSI performs a DNS lookup for dns.msftncsi.com and checks to see if the corresponding IP address is 131.107.255.255.

Obviously....duh!!!
Everybody knows that o_Oo_O😂

It's happening again ffs.
Was browsing away to my hearts content when it stopped working. No internet service logo there again.
Tried a few sites....nothing.
Dammit. This post just posted itself before I was finished ffs.

I checked my router, no problem. Restarted it anyway, including my pc. Still no good. Did the kitchen and bathroom trick again  Came back, no service logo still there, reloaded a page and.......................my internet is back but everything tells me it isn't.

If I had plenty of hair I would pull it out.

The router seemed fine. I have let the pc sleep, resumed and the internet status is reporting properly again. I have just dug out a laptop and am installing windows on it. I should then be able to see if the problem lies with my isp or with my pc.

Wrote the part above 30 minutes ago. Lost my internet again. All my wireless devices reported no internet service. Router has a check against my broadband but say's it is working??? My pc reported no problems but still had no internet.

Somebody shoot me. I am going to carry on with the win 10 install again. It couldn't proceed due to lack of internet ffs.

Hub 4

Stick it in modem mode and run a proper router on it 👍

Nothing but trouble again today. Doing my head in.
My ethernet connection has the name Security5 which is the SSID of my routers 5G network. Can't understand why. My wi-fi on the motherboard is turned off. I uninstalled my ethernet adapter and restarted my pc and when it installed itself it gave the same name again?

Occasionally slow as hell to load a page so tried SamKnows Realspeed and got the message that my router doesn't support realspeed???? It's a hub4 and I normally use SamKnows.
It must be a problem with the hub as I get no config information or upspeed info when I lose service. Doesn't explain the naming thing though.

Looks like I'll be speaking to someone with a dodgy accent tomorrow. :(

Did a factory reset 20 minutes ago on the hub 4 and SamKnows RealSpeed is working for me again. Prior to that the message from SamKnows changed from router not supported to enabled device offline.

Could be that all the works of late had corrupted my hub 4. Or maybe I'm just kidding myself and this will be but a short reprieve. The hub is getting rather warm though. It's never off so thinking of putting a timer in place to cut it off during the night. Anyway, time will tell.

Watch This Space!!!! 😂 😂 😂

If he's a solid unbroken stream going at this point. Its the possibility of electrocution id worry about. 😂
Mine's that weak it evaporates before it reaches the pan

Still having issues. Called Virgin yesterday and spoke to a man who I could actually understand. Tried to tell me there was a problem in my area which could cause temporary loss of service.
I told him I'd been suffering temporary loss of service for nearly a week. I've to call again around 6pm tonight if I experience any more issues. I lost service 4 times after my call.

He did say that my connection would be put on "observation". I expect I will end up calling them again.

You must be due some compensation by now.

Just got off the phone to them again. Took me 2 attempts. The 1st try they never put me through to anyone. Said they would test my line which came back with the intermittent problems again. An automated voice then told me to wait 24 hours and if the problem persists to ring them again.
Exactly the same thing as yesterday. I was raging  so rang them straight back and was eventually put through to someone this time. A very helpful guy with a South African accent. He noted all the issues I've been having and is sending an "engineer" tomorrow.

It's went off half a dozen times today but is only out for a few minutes. Frustrating as hell. Good job I'm not into porn .
I don't believe it!!! Well I'll submit this post when my effing internet comes back on.
