Smargo card reader

I have read in the past that clone Dreamboxes were damaging subscription cards due to voltage mismatching (or something), meaning that a Smargo card reader was necessary. If I buy an true Dreambox DM600 will I still need the Smargo?

official S*y boxs can burn the cards out... people use dm500/dm600 boxs without problems but if your concerned get yourself a omnikey for under a tenner delivered. regards mdt
