### Protecting your 250 ###

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

since we dont know exactly if the 250- 255's r under attack via login or software maybe putting this in the stickys might help a few protect ther modem courtesy mark370

change the serial numba of the infinite firmware:

power up modem with-out feed just ethernet cable.
now open hyperterminal and set your settings to:
connect using = TCP/IP (winsock)
host address = 192.168.100.1
port number = 23
and login in with user & pass
then copy and paste the stop scan cmd:

Code:
cd \cm_hal
scan_stop

cd non-vol
cd snmp_cm
docsDevSerialNumber xxxxxxxxxxxxxx (replace the xxxxxxxxxxxxx with the digits of the mac u r using or is on the modem )
write
reboot modem. [credit to geeman]

Changing The USB MAC.

power up modem with-out feed just ethernet cable.
now open hyperterminal and set your settings to:
connect using = TCP/IP (winsock)
host address = 192.168.100.1
port number = 23
and login in with user & pass
then copy and paste the stop scan cmd:
Code:
cd \cm_hal
scan_stop

now enter the following cmds:
Code:

cd \non-vol/halif
usb_mac_address 00:11:22:33:44:55
write
now reboot and that should be it , go check @ http://192.168.100.1/
[example]
ETH HFC MAC 00:11:22:33:44:55
USB HFC MAC 00:11:22:33:44:56

********** the last digit on the USB mac is always 1 digit higher or lower than ethernet mac.

Change The Default User & Pass

250configurator will do this or use hyper/t like this.

power up modem with-out feed just ethernet cable.

connect using = TCP/IP (winsock)
host address = 192.168.100.1
port number = 23
and login in with default user & pass IE:
user = admin
pass = infinte
then copy and paste the stop scan cmd:
Code:
cd \cm_hal

scan_stop
cd \non
cd msg
user_name [new username]
password [new password]
write

I'm confused... why is the login+password different when ...

1) i log in to http://192.168.100.1/ (theis seems to be default)
2) when i use 250 configurator (this is set to the user+password i chose when setting up initially)

which login+password do i need to worry about ? and how do you change the login+password of http://192.168.100.1/ ?

worry about the one used to communicate with the modem via telnet/configurator not the one u use to connect via a web browser such as Infinite/SetValue

not sure if u can change the web browser password... would be interested to know this thou!

Within the codem config page 192.168.100.1 i does not matter about this password as all you can do is change the freq
Its the password that needs changing with telnet that matters
Reconnect to the modem via telnet using Hyperterminal
Now start a new copy of Hyperterminal, this time we change the port to TCP/IP (Winsock)
In the Host address box enter 192.168.100.1
Leave the port number as 23
Code:
login: admin
password: infinite
It should be scanning for a frequency to lock onto. We want to stop this.
Code:
cd \cm_hal
scan_stop
cd \
Type in:
Code:
cd \non
cd msg
user_name put you new user name here
password put your new password here
write
I haved 2 pcs
one without router .. Modem got zapped
one with router. Modem is fine
:)

edit sorry gentlex realised now you have edited your post and put this info in...lol

that might of been a typo the login should be the telnet 1 which is admin and infinite

don't press Ctrl + v to paste. You have to right click in terminal window under the scan and you will see the word paste in cursor drop down box

Do you "NEED" to change the usb mac to that as i accidently changed it to a different mac when using Hideki's Software.....

can someone please let me know if i can make above commands like a script that will run when clicked as i have mate who don't understand from pcs... if i can make a script and send it let him run it..

i updated this thread here, but it might also interest ppl who are watching this thread also

how exactly do you put the mac in where the x's are? ive tried like 00112233 ect. and ive tried 00:11:22 ect....obviously i have not used 00112233 ect i have used the number of the mac im using.

also the usb mac. im confused what goes in there ive seen posts saying 00:11:22:33:44:55 and ive seen posts saying the same as your mac but one digit up.

have i got the right end of the stick here and if so can someone clear this up.
