parallel ports

Anyone know why a PCI card parallel port does not behave exactly like a built in motherboard one? I am trying to connect to jtag port but can't get it to work using the PCI card, no problems with an onboard one.

I think I'd have a look at the irq's first, maybe a conflict.?? Have look in device manager at the existing LPT1 port settings, check you've got the same settings for your LPT2..??

Sorry, didn't explain very well. I don't have an onboard parallel card on my pc, hence using a pci card. Got the jtag working on a different pc with an on board parallel. In the hardware settings the are some settings for interupts (not IRQ) and the usual stuff, tried all the different setting but no joy..

parallel ports should set themselves up as normal. I am assuming you installed the drivers which came with the disk and not the OS drivers from say xp?

which xp are you using home or pro?

Make sure you got latest drivers for the card. You may need to check motherboard wwebsite for latest patches or fixes.
