right guys im wanting one of these motorised sat set ups,

i gather from reading posts that at least a 1 metre dish is prob best. but im stuck for the receiver, i see so many threads and so many different replies to this question i thought id ask which one and WHY?

SECONDLY IM WANTING THIS MAINLY FOR THE FOOTY BUT I SEE A LOT OF POSTS ABOUT CERTAIN PROVIDERS GOING NAGRA 3

is this going to be a problem with regards to the footy or are these providers on different channels totally?

if they are on the soon to be nagra 3 channels how long before its cracked (how longs a piece of string sort of question)

last of all as i said its mainly for the footy so if its going to be not available is it best to hold of for a while and see what happens before buying the gear? what other stuff is available and how much in terms of % can be watched in english?

i wouldnt mind a hd box but there too expensive at the minute but i have seen posts saying they will come down in price this year but im not too concerned at that for the min if they drop i will just buy a receiver and hook it up later.

boring i know and prob answered like a thousand times but with no real reason as to why this is the best or what to expect channel wise and english content wise or anything about nagra 3 and the footy.

cheers boys and happy new year.

The remaining 2 for footy are digi tv and premiere. Digi is due to change to nagra 3 in April/May and premiere have no plans yet, but u never know. If nagra 3 is hacked by then and thats a realistic chance then we can add cabo and d+ which shows the odd game. If nagra 3 is not hacked by next season start then its either a gammacard for the nova package, unless they change encryption by then or you'll need a bigger dish about 1.8m to get the showtime package using a gamma. Last option which is what i am looking at if all else fails is a digitalb card for the year which is in the region of 150 notes. No hacking needed, just a straight card in the box.

You do not need a 1m dish m8 if your really only interested in the big boys Astra 19 hotbird hispast etc you should be perfectly ok with a good quality 88cm/90cm. I have a triax 88cm and it outperforms my mates 1m dish. At the end of the day if you are really badly obstructed you will need a huge dish but by the same measure if your really badly obstructed then no size dish will really help.
My fathers got 3 sky dishes set up astra 19 hotbird and hispast and and he recieves all the channels on them believe it or not.
As for a reciever i would go for a dreambox something like a 7000s ar 7020 both have great internet support and are brilliant with a motorised setup.
Aside from the footy there are some great music channels m6 music etc and loads of great film chans taquila"RIP"lol for now anyway, multivision films , Premier, cabo etc also fox network and stuff when its up, and seriously filthy adult grot if thats your thing. Its great fun having a motorised setup as you never know what new chans will pop up and on what sat. Also not sure of the % but there is loads of stuff in english i have not really found myself stuck for english stuff anyway.Dont worry to much either about nag 3 i think it will be hacked soonish and there is still loads of other stuff, infact ive had a motorised dreambox setup four years or so and its all part of the fun not knowing what channels are going to be hacked from one day to next sure its a git when you loose some but its ace when you get new ones too. This is not a sky setup and the nature of it is such channels cannot be depended on to be open all the time, but thats part of its charm after a while for me. Its all great fun if you dont take it to seriously.
Highly recommend it m8.
hoped this helped a bit.
Cheers

nice posts guys, i have a dream for cable so i have channels i want to watch anyway, i thought id get one for the extra footy you can get, the rest porn, movies, music etc...is just a bonus,

this is where im confused some say dreambox some say techomate, packages i see on ebay are technomate i dont think ive seen a setup kit for dream and i would rather buy it altogether so im not missing bits lol.

i have sky but its expired well the premiums anyway i still have the basic fta i think (not used it for ages lol).

i know theres another option of "cs" aswell but i just want to get one i,ll be happy with and set it up then look into all the ins and outs of what available.

its my new toy and i know i wouldnt be getting a sky type package but thats half the fun, setting it up and playing with it.

anybody else with any info or views please feel free to add to this post.

thanks.

Dont buy an inferior reciever just because its in a package its really not hard at all to source the bits seperatly they are all on ebay. Brackets ,motor ,Cable, And a couple of f connectors. You will also need a cheap analogue sat finder about £8. I have found that people on ebay are selling a lot of rubbish recievers in a package to encourage people to buy them. All i am saying is pick a decent stb then worry about the motorised side of things.

P.s i'm not saying anything negative about the technomates just watch what you buy. LOL before i get flamed.

I bought my package complete for about 220 quid. It came with 110cm dish tm1500ci receiver which most on here use and is very user friendly. All the cable motor and other bits came with it. This receiver also takes most cards where as others require extras like cams etc. ill find you a link. Ideal for footy and movies.

Ok this was the one i bought,

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TECHNOMATE-15...ageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem?_trksid=p1638.m118

If u look in the technomate section you'll see keys posted usually minutes before changes so you'll never miss out. Also patches/firmware are regularly updated mainly by sakib. So help is always availible and also theres a thread by digidude on installing this. I done mine myself in 3 hours. One more thing, the 110 cm dish has its benefits on very windy and rainy days which smaller dishes can lose picture and quality!

Does look a good setup that m8 for the money. I would probably ditch the screws and rawl plugs in favour of some decent bolts especially with a bigger dish though. Have to say i havnt had any wheather probs at all with my 88cm but i think all setups are different and a lot is to do with ideal dish location.

The bolts have held up nicely so far. Been up for about 7 months now, and we've had some rough days. They even threw in a sat finder for free.

Cool !! I just opted for heavier duty ones as its in between two houses and its a wind tunnel.
To be honest my whole setup is a bit overkill, two heavy duty brackets, oversized s/steel plated pole and wall anchor bolts just didnt want to take any chances plus its been up 4 years and is still as good as the day i did it ,which is a bonus as i'm not good with ladders.lol

This ones pretty heavy too, the motor itself weighs a bit. Good thing is the insides been re enforced so it dont slip on very windy days. If you line it up very accurately, you can even pick up a couple of channels from showtime with this sized dish.

that link is the one i already have saved in my ebay account, thought it looked ok but thats why i posted to see what other thought before i made any decisions.

i think if you start with a technomate you wont go far wrong, then once youre all setup and running, if in the future you want to go full 'cs' route then a DM500s is only about £85, but for all hacked channels, and ease of use, you wont beat a technomate reciever

thanks for that, i want to start out easy and get it set up, so i,ll go down that route i think, it,ll see me right until i can get a hd one somewhere down the line when there cheaper.

thanks.

dreambox nothing comes close!

AYE AYE AYE....... where to look what to do?

technomate is user friendly. good

dream i presume is similar to set up as the cable version? no probs if its like the cable version.

what about this key issue is it the same for both dream and techno? both manual install no AU?

which of the two requires less messing? i mean with regards to patches software updates ect..or are they both the same.

is techno a no no for the "cs" thing? i will look into this at some point so its important in the long run but not straight away.

after these questions i feel i,ll have my decision.

thanks for bearing with me.

EDIT: one last thing i will be having a go at setting this up myself from start to finish is there any pit falls using one or the other doing this, signal strenghts etc...

Techno is a very good starter as already said but if your looking towards a cs thing then it wont be capable, also techno you will have to use the patch lead to update it where as the dream you can connect it to your router and access it from your pc ;)

I anit an expert but can only advise as I have found playing about.

He's right about playing with things....Wont mention what else he plays with. TM is definately the easier, but not for CS.
