Dm 500c - Dm 500s

Hi there, a friend has given me a DM500C as he has now got skyHD installed. I currently have a dish pointing at astra 19.2, and would like to use this dreambox, but no channels were detected when i ran it (probably because it is scanning for cable channels)

So is there anyway to convert a DM 500C to a DM 500S through a firmware flash or by other means??

A DM500C has a DVB-C tuner and a DM500S has a DVB-S tuner; one for cable and one for satellite. The tuner would need to be desoldered and a DVB-S tuner soldered in it's place. Then you would need to flash a satellite image to the box (not a problem, easilly done).

Not worth the hassle, sell it and buy a proper 500S model.

Cool... thanks for the hasty response... will give him back his dream box and purchase a 500s of my very own. I did want to buy a HD sat receiver and them use a cam, but just to confirm whilst im here, with a dreambox you can emulate cams, thus eliminating the need for one..? correct?

I am willing to forget about HD channels, if i can prevent having to purchase a cam!
