nope the phone is actually a lovely size, especially when using the screen for typing, i cannot for the life of me type on my wifes widfire, or the ipod but the desire hd is just about right. the phone is also slimmer than the ipod (same thickness nearly as the wildfire except the camera bezel sticks out slightly) and feels much better in the hand than the ipod. you dont have to hold it in any particular way and you can change the battery on the fly lol.
tbh you should really go down to a shop and hold one in the flesh, i have a noreve case on mine which really bulks it up but i can still put it easly in my trouser pockets.
the best part is none of that stupid itunes rubbish, i love being able to drag and drop or download my mp3 tracks of my server and or audible.com directly to the phone.

Some good points there mate. I've used one in a store and I wasn't impressed with it as much as I was impressed with the iPhone when I saw the retina display after using the desire hd.
I'm gonna keep the wildfire, let's hope it doesn't go tits up when i take the 2.2 update again.
they could have done better with the camera sticking out on the desire and the volume buttons on the side seem to be too recessed. also, have you noticed the side of the screen, it's like a little paper sound when you slide your finger off to the side and off the phone.
my wifes wildfire is still on 2.1, as virgin still havent done the firmware, im chewing over debranding it and getting the official update now.
i hadnt noticed that the bezel until you said it, it does feel kinda sharp, but then again it sticks out to protect the screen.
Also the camera sticking out is for the same reason, if you lay it on a flat surface the lens wont touch, just the metal body. but yes a shutter or something like that would have been a much better and prettier idea.
The volume buttons on mine are not recessed, they stick out a very little bit, to press them in makes them flush, the power button is recessed though - maybe the one you tryed has been used and abused demo.
i am bias as i truely dislike apple products, im of the mind where things should be open, ive payed my money i choose what i want to do with it, with apple your heavly restricted.
I agree that they have got a good screen, but tbh its a mobile phone - just how many pixels do you need?, i can watch 720p mkv movies on my phone with no problems and yet it dosent have the pixel density of the iphone, can the iphone play mkv, divx, xvid, h264 videos??? i dont think it can so having the better screen is just a gimick in thier case as it wont use it.

Yeah that bezel thing on the side of the screen is annoying. If i wanted to protect the screen, I would get a case of some sort.
The camera sticking out is a problem. you seen the HTC HD7? That's how the camera should be:

yep annoying as its basically the same phone lol.
the built in player is ok and plays some files, but ive installed vplayer to run everything else, there are occasional sync problems but these are usually down to the audio codec.
vplayer was good until the other day when the dev said he would now charge when he initially said it would be free forever - there has been a backlash against this so the dev may change his mind.
the other player that works quiet well but has an annoying bug on the top left hand corner is rockplayer, it works well but the dev wont sell though the market place, and the software is locked to your iem. I purchased it when i was using my milestone and he hasnt been forthcoming with a new unlock code for my new phone so dont pay him......

Was speaking to HTC today and the rep told me that he uses arcMedia to drag and drop his videos. No converting apparantely: arcMedia - a media player for Android

Tried this today - took all data off and formatted using sd formatter by panasonic. Took ages. moved all the data back and still the card is not mounting.
I did notice that when I managed to get it to mount. HTC Sense force closed showed the timer and when the screen comes back the card is mounted. Anytime I get HTC Sense force close the sd will mount but when it doesnt then the card will not mount either :err:
Edit: HTC Sense force closed and now my card is mounted again - but for how long lol

have you tryed doing a factory reset, it could be sense hasnt updated correctly and causing issues or something you have installed.
sorry that trick didnt work for you, but it was worth the shot at least you know your card is fine now.....sorry.
Ive not had any probs with sense, but ive had to turn on debugging as ive had the phone do a partial reboot a few times today using mort audiobook player. (partial is when it goes to htc white screen then asks for pin code). it looks like they may not have entirely fixes the init problem - or thats thier answer to it just soft boot.- the most annoying part about it is when it has rebooted the headphones wont work until a full reboot has been completed.

Well managed to brick my phone on Friday - so did 2 factory resets and formatted the sd card and started again - all seems to be well again.
But for the moment I have not moved anything to the SD card just in case.
Although I lost all my numbers
and unable to get in to applanet lol
Edit: by the way what do you guys use to back up everything as this just reminded me of the importance of backing up and will save time in the future if and when this happens again which I am sure it will

your contacts should be backed up automatically with your gmail account, mine have always resynced when i sign in, have your tryed syncing your account (is the sync button on or off?)
i havent used apps to sd as i had problems back in my old g1 days, the cards would take a hammering with the copying back and forth and cause them to crash out, with the amount of room the dhd has on board ive not needed it anyways yet - maybe thats the problem as im sure the cards supplied are only class 2 when you really need class 6 speed to run at its best. Ive got class 4 16gb in mine but done use apps to sd and havent seen this problem.

Im also not going to use the sd card untill needed - I noticed though that if you use email and want to download an attachment you have to have a sd card inserted into this phone else you can not download an attachment, I only found out because I thought to leave the card out as the onboard space is enough for the moment.

I had saved them in the google phone book but I guess you have to allow google to sync to its servers for it to be save and I dont think I had activated it when I got my phone as I hate my details being somewhere - where I dont know how my info will be used. I have set it up now though lol

If I press the menu button when viewing posts like your reply for example. The only options I get is
Refresh / Subscribe / browser / close
If I go back to main topics and press menu I get
subscribe / refresh ...... More
under more I get
logout / settings / exit
