converting and chopping big avi

Small prob, can anyone help?

I just got my hands on the new spideyman movie, at about 900mb of avi goodness.

Of course, i`d like to burn it onto a couple of cds so i can watch on the dvd player in the living room for the big screen tv.

Anyone know the best way to convert the avi to mpeg and split it up to go on a couple of cds? (i`m told mpegs burn a lot quicker...i`m using the latest nero to burn)

I`m new to all this so all idiot-proof advice much appreciated !

yes m8 u need tmpgenc this will convert it to mpeg to make it in to a vcd convert it to mpeg 1 svcd mpeg 2
i then use VirtualDub to cut it into the right size mpegs to fit the disks about 650mb
the file u have when converted will be big
