Hi Guys,

Recently purchased a HD51 with 2x DVB-C and its an awesome box. Really impressed. My Brothers house has Virmin broadband as well as a Tivo in a 2nd reception room so the signal is split via a 2-way splitter at the Brown box on his house.

There used to be cable in his living room years ago that he got rid of so we connected the HD51 there and added a 3 way splitter outside to re-connect the living room so that the BB, reception room and living room could all be connected together.

All works great in each room, except for when he tries to record on the HD51. Once tuner A becomes occupied with a recording, Tuner B comes on, but the signal is massively degraded and totally unwatchable. At the moment, I've told him to disable tuner B so he can only record what he watches. In terms of testing, I've plugged the main feed directly into tuner B and it works fine, so the tuner isn't dodgy. I have also unplugged the reception room from the 3 way splitter but the issue is still there. Tuner A - out is also connected to Tuner B - in via a short coax cable that I have replaced with a new one with the same issue so it is not this either.

I suspect that we've just split the signal too much (is this possible?), and if so, is there a way of boosting it? Does anyone have any ideas?

Any advice appreciated.

Hi,

The splitter is actually a 4 way splitter from maplin (They didn't have a 3) with only 3 outputs occupied. The short cable (If that's what you are referring to) is a brand new coax cable from Maplin

anything on 4 way splitter like numbers for mhz, maplins long ago kept selling wrong null modem cable for flashing boxes so wondering if its a cheapie?

Webro WF100 is the better one to use with compression fitting
tratec 5-1000 mhz splitter.
