Roma roundup

Hope you have that attitude in 5 years or so when you need one of these said social services. Unfortunately you will not have a NHS or benefits. The native population looses out for someones sense of moral high ground. If you are happy to give up your place for some migrant that's great but don't expect me too.

I don't understand how when these services are struggling already another mass influx is going to help them? I don't get this progressive thinking it fly's in the face of common sense?

As I have said several times already, I've heard the same thing since I moved to this country in the early 70's.

BTW, most social services wouldn't be running today without the access to cheap immigrant labour that it has today. So when you next pop down to your local hospital think about that.

That maybe true but when you look at the figures and time scales involved it is like nothing we have ever seen before, Over 5 million in 15 years, we did not see 5 million over the previous 70 years.

In 1945, Britain's non-white residents numbered in the low thousands. By 1970 they numbered approximately 1.4 million - a third of these children born in the United Kingdom.

MigrationWatchUK | An independent, voluntary, non-political body concerned about the scale of immigration into the UK.

The result is unprecedented pressure on all social aspect of the country.... And you think another million or so in a little over 5 years is going to help? That Guesstimate is for 250,000 but in the real world we know where guesstimating gets us. The figure of 25% of Bulgarians want a job in the uk has been mentioned in the papers, 25% of 38 million? Even if the figures are way off we are still going to receive over a million.

The country is broke who exactly is going to pay for all this extra infrastructure? You got it the tax payer, like we aint got enough on our plate as it is!!!!!!!

Ps, Dont forget the baby boom of all the migrants here already to take into account in the next 5 -10 years as well.

you realise that by its very nature that migration watch is politcally drive, lol

As for you first link, it doesn't point to anything.

Could find any real data pointing to a million bulgarians moving to the UK. I'm sure if you asked if they wanted a job in Italy, Spain, France or any other western european country you would have got the same reply. And btw, EU to UK migration figures are well below that of some european countries.

Want some more data, following pan-european survey shows the more immigrants we have, the happier we are about them,

More Eastern European immigration makes Britons happier with migrants, study shows

:roflmao:

Pmsl, are you serious? The title had me rolling on the floor. Best joke ive heard in a while, What planet do these people live on?

The links i supplied show the immigration figures over the last century. Migration watch is independent and you cant exactly call the BBC right wing can we?

Edit, sorry the BBC link i posted earlier dont work here it is again

Sorry, I couldn't see any data on that link, only political history.

Immigration watch is certainly not independent, they have a political agenda.

Time and time again, waves of immigrants have come to the UK and always have had net positive contribution to society. Even the Polish who were the most recent. 5 years ago everyone was saying they are here for the benefits and take out jobs. 5 years down the road I think most people would say they work hard, pay their taxes and have integrated into society. As I said, there are always going to be a few bad apples but that applies to any sector of society.

The Polish workers in the UK apparently send £4Bn home per year (Polish migration to the UK and the long term effects).

Roma don't, by large, don't have the same work ethic as other groups and seem to present a problem wherever they migrate to en masse. They fail to integrate and stretch social services with their huge families, think how many council tax payers you need to support one Roma family.

hang on, weren't we saying the same thing about Irish traveler families..........

A few reports claiming that the "French Gypsies" at Royal Gwent Hospital may be Roma that were moved on from French camps.

French travellers set up camp in Royal Gwent Hospital car park | Mail Online

One of them doesn't look too Roma to me but some do. They'll turn the car park into Dale Farm in no time.

If you look into the background of Dale Farm (which I live less then 5 miles from), the land was legally bought but didn't have building planning permission. Have a couple of their kids in the same school as my kids and where I am a governor. Some of the best behaved and hardest working kids there. Shame it all changes when they go to secondary school.

You are school governor aswell? No wonder this country is ****ed up................

You should know better than anyone the pressure on our school system.

While the system crumbles around you, you advocate more immigration.......? D'oh

Yes also class sizes are bigger than they have ever been. Yet lets have MORE

Which schools do you mean? From all reports ive read education is getting worse!!!! Kids cant spell or add up?

The 3 R's what the **** are they?

Sorry, but that's incorrect. Average Primary School class size at the moment is about 27, although rules have been relaxed to allow this to go over 30 for a period while the system accommodates to the demand.

The average in 1950 was 30 per class, so not much change there.

Class size is always something that is difficult to manage. The "baby boom" era caused problems unrelated to immigration.

I was never in a Primary School class of less than 35-40. (Might explain a lot.:Dunce:)

been reading the daily mail again then ?

Target achievements are always increasing and mostly been meet thus indicating that level of teaching (in primary school at least where I am involved in) has improved. Its amazing the knowledge that kids do have these days when leaving KS2 plus the learning experience ignites their imagination much more then when I was at school 30 years ago.

Secondary school I know a little less about but results have also improved over the last 25 years ago, though in different ways.

Do not underestimate the homegrown and imported skills base that this country has. Any country can knock cheap products using child labour, being able to transition to a skills lead industry is something this country has managed to do.

BTW, I was wondering how old you are as you seem to drawing a lot of comparisons to immigration history over the last 40 years.

What you need to understand Spectre and Eon is that for us celts pretty much anyone has got to be an improvement on the English
