iPhone Iphone 5 smashed screen

hey guys, iv just bought an iphone 5 which has a smashed front glass, digitiser is fine but glass is smashed to bits, mute button on side is stiff as hell aswell, its still under warranty, but not in my name as iv bought it 2nd hand, so where do i stand on this, with it being under warranty is there anything they will do to fix it, if not how much is it for them to fix it for me, or will they just give me a reconditioned phone instead, any info appreciated.

you could try that 1st mate yea, usually the glass is stuck to the digitizer, and you will need to heat up all around the edges and slowly try prize awy the glass from the digitizer, not easy the other option would be to buy both guide HERE

ld spend the 100 notes a get the lot m8 ,, looks a nightmare to get the screen off and a 5 minute job to replace the lot .. stiff button isnt the worst thing

dropped mine today and went under a car , lucky it missed it lol .. not even a mark on it

a 5 minute job to replace the lot ..

5 minute job? That would take me weeks and I would end up with an even more broken iPhone! There are some very talented people on this site ......... and I'm not one of them! lol

Thanks mate, it's largely academic - I still have a 3 gs which I know I can change the screen on! Can't be easier than that surely! I will have a look, my kids have iPhone 5.

cheers gents, and yes my 1st port of call was youtube and it does look pretty easy, if a little delicate but im pretty sure i could do it following one of the guides, the mute button i could live with thats nowt, i only really bought it to fix/replace and sell again as i only paid £50 for it.

next question, wheres the best place to buy the full screen with digitiser, i looked on ebay and they were about 90 odd quid, is that about right or anyone know anywhere cheaper.

it don't matter whose name its under mate, they will swap it for a new one no problems as long as the warranty is running, well did for me anyway |

for a broken screen though mate as surely they class that as user fault.

Search online for latest issues and when you go into the shop state thats the issue not the broken screen.
Say you've been using the phone with the cracked glass but it's got some tech issues now.

They'll swap it straight.

cheers guys gunna go into eldon square sometime this week, will just say im having wifi issues, or dropping network repeatedly or battery drain, probably just mention all 3 lol, will get back to the thread once iv been!

hmmm didnt know that mate, where do i phone then, and is it just a case of telling them the problems over the phone, then take it in so they can have a look.

this was a common fault m8 iphone 5 black screen fault say it was going it before screen problem so wasnt fussed about replacing it till first faults repaired

right guys iv booked a reservation for tomorrow at my local apple store... so which way am i playing this, am i going with the screen keeps becoming froze and unresponsive or what.. need to figure out what to say really, are they pests at the apple stores do they check everything or will they just replace, do i need to take anything other than the phone.
