Sharia law in UK is 'unavoidable'

but heres a thought, can you imagine the uproar if it was suggested that The American Constitution be ammended to accommodate Sharia Law?

there would be an instant civil war, no ifs or buts about it, there would be riots, looting and murder on the streets, if anything was able to trigger war on a global scale, that would tip it

and in the next 10-12 years, with the way this country is going, there will be a UK civil war, something has to give

Because the law we have here is based on the christian religion.

And Muslim law is based on the muslim faith.

does that mean that I cant be tried in any court here as I am not either?

Muslim law is much harder than ours and involves the death penalty etc - our laws have become useless since there seems to be no punishment given out - prison sounds nicer than my house these days.

Perhaps we need to be aiming for somewhere inbetween ?

good point there m8 but combining 2 flawed sets of laws wouldnt give us 1 good lot.
Theres loads of laws that need changing in the UK but it's not as simple as adopting and incorporating the laws of a minority group.

not every muslim follows it - its not a thing every muslim needs to believe in. As a concept, it is flawed from the outset.

As to the UK adopting it? We are never going to adopt shariah law. End of.

Now, there have been a few strange things said in this thread - some by the usual suspects. There is little undertstanding of what Shariah is here, if we all understood it we wouldnt care so much as we would all know it is impracticle for our government.

I dont think the thread is about religion or politics but just someone with authority who makes a statement which and will cause problems.

Rowan Williams has clarified and is talking about certain aspects and not totally. Nevertheless, I dont think it should be allowed - for any culture - as I believe in one set of common laws per land. People making their own courts and rules should be made illegal.

No one should be forced to change your religion, no matter how crap you think it is. In present day a lot of countries accept different cultures and does not force their own beliefs on them and thats how it should be.

I would agree with that. There have been a few attempts to drag the thread off course but for the most part it's been sensible.

not change as in change but to accept ours when all comes to all this is our country as there country is theres. and we cant do the things there do here in there countrys e.g your wife cant go to india and put a bathing suit on its not allowed and you tell me why its not allowed the same reson france dont allow these things to happen in there country because its there country
