But a lot of this seems to be related to cards.

What about the dreamboxes and the likes...
I think they have software card emulators? (pardon my ingorance of the technology.. so much to learn so little time!)

I was out and about last night and I hear the mention that a few poeple were trading in boxes that get 300 channels... didn't get more into it with them... but it appears any Joe Soap can buy a Cable box like a Starview etc and get it up and running pretty easily. last night was the first time I realized just how common it is... so I'm sure that UPC etc are out to stop this sooner rather than later..

And seeming it's so easy the situation is only gonna get worse.... (or has it been like this for years!?)

However ain't there already Narga2 softkeys for the dreambox? (on sat) what to stop somone just using that.. ?

i'm sure i'm missing something... or missing a lot... fill me in.?

You know nagra1 was switched off january 2006.
You don't know when the majority of the cards was sent to the subscribers.

if they change and the new nagra 2 system is hacked then yes,if it isnt it may take a long time or never be done,so it looks like if they do change it,our boxes wont work for a good few months,untill the system is cracked or else it will never be cracked and for our purposes they will be useless.

They are changing to 142”! and they started sending them in July 2007 and the full change will be around October 11th 2007

So it’s very difficult me predicting when or what month the majority was sent”!

As far as I remember seca1 was not hacked at start of on-digital.

Its was hacked on the sat scene bigtime. Remember D+ italy, Kiosque france, Tequilla spain. Long before On-dig.

Even the cc's, i'm sure nagra was already compromised before the cc's started using it.

N2 Works in the bases of 3 Session keys"! 1 Public 1 Private and generating both together you will get the RSA key that you input in to the Box"! (Dream)
the problem is that you have to dump the card to get the key's to generate the RSA Key"!

ok,no the i only said it wasnt that obvious to people such as myself who arent into the whole card encryption scene,so i just presumed you could cardshare sky,so no reason you couldnt card share N2 ntl cards

My point exactly m8"! When I said that the service providers don’t look at what has been hacked or not”! I think it’s all about affordability.

They already had contracted Kudelsky by the time the Hack came out”! and went fully in January 2006 knowing that Digital+ and Bell where already Hacked and Running on 101’s 007

I can only assume they where contracted to Kudelsky and dint have some sort of get out clause”!

If depends at the circumstances if cardsharing is possible for nagra2.
If the old nagra1 camcrypt between box and card is used you need only the boxkey from your old card for the cardserver.
If they change to DT8 someone has to crack the boxsoftware and extract the rsa key for the camcrypt.
