is it possible to update the software in the digibox yourself?<br />my mum is getting interference with her Grundig set, but when i plug in my Panasonic with my card the signal is shit hot.<br />Any ideas?

cheers davidh,<br />had a look on the back of both digiboxes but there wasnt anything there that looked tunable.<br />i take it u meant the sort of tuning screw thats on video recorders?<br />with one system the signal quality is 1/2, the other is about 7/8.<br />any other ideas?

It is probably not a fault but just a really noticeable difference between models. It is well known that Panasonic digiboxes easily outperform others with the signal conversion efficiency. Grundig are known to be a cheap and cheerful. Amstrad are known as AM-CRAP and are total crap compared with other boxes, but their newer digibox DRX300 out performs nearly all boxes with the signal efficiency. Basically, its trial and error to find the best one, I would say its just how it is m8, nothin you can do but upgrade the Grundig to a better digibox.

By the way u havent said wot kind of interference, digital or wavey anologue type, and whether using scart or rf connex?

If its actual picture inteference then change the output frequency. to do this press services, 4, 0, 1, select, 4. the output is set to ch68 by default but in some areas this is too close to ch4/s4c. change it to 22 and retune your **.
grundigs do go tits up sometimes after an automatic update, which was done a few weeks ago. to update and renew the digibox software yourself disconnect from the mains, press and HOLD the backup button on the box (not the remote) and reconnect the power. keep the backup button pressed and after about 15 secs all 4 lights will come on on the box and an updating message onscreen. leave for ten mins and the box will update and reset itself, leave for another few mins and then press the sly button on the remote.
