Stage 1 of New Shed...

Looking good, in process of building my own brick shed, think i may start a thread also.
Have dug footings/base shuttered in and layed 4 1/2 tonne all in one day. Had 2 mixers on the go.
My back is paying for it now though. Looking to use block on back and face brick front.
Also as in corner may hire brick cutter as want front of shed to 'cut' the corner and don't fancy forking ot for specials.

Keep up the good work......

Nice to hear your also getting a brick shed done. Whats your dimensions gonna be like?

weather doesnt look good down there, its typical when you start building work.
make sure they put piers on a single wall construction!,especially near door & window openings.

i cant see clear from the pics, but it looks like light weight block they are using.it would have been better to use dense concrete blocks for exterior work.

keep us posted

Yup your right m8, they are light weight blocks.
Just a quick question what are piers? I think we might have some at the rear wall but just checking to see if its the same thing and so I could preciesly tell the builders if needed.

Also what type of interior lights need to be inside?
Can I use spot lights?
They originally said tube lighting but we was thinking of going for the trendy spot lights.

yes m8 piers, they are put in a single block construction for added strength.

your rear wall has a couple if i remember in your pics, but you want them in the new walls placed around every 3m or so.on your build i would place them half way on every side .

I spoke to the brick layer, as the boss aint about until around 5pm. He said it wasn't needed as the roofing would be attached to the wall so it will pressue it and hold it all together.
However ill speak to the main guy for assurance when he comes.

Spot lights hes including for the same price :)

Update, Brick work seems more or less complete -

thats no shed its a boys room, lcd screen, porn, beer, fridge need i say anymore

well its gonna be a mini gym, so lets hope it all plans out and maybe get a lcd in there also.

Not done yet - the damp course and rendering still needs to be done.

Roof done today, was a 4-5 delay as the materials for the roof were not delivered on time -

just 1 question, why are there so many straight joints, even tho its going to be renderd you still dont want straight joints,,rabbit

Why not? I dont know why there are so many. I know nothing about building a shed so ive left it up to the professionals.
Only thing I can think of is for more support as no piles?

Its looking good to me. Are the lintels above the door and window, wooden or concrete just out of interest?
