Softmod Newb needs help!

Doing my first wii softmod, running 4.3e. Followed all the instructions and got as far as trying to set up usbloader but I cant get it to recognise my hdd. Its a western digital my passport 1tb drive. In the wiki it says it should work for backups not homebrew. tried installing digis ios222 files but doing the same thing. It just times out. Can anyone help?

from back of my head you need to format a 3 gig partition on the drive fat 32 i think m8 then the tools can go there and i think you need the usb cable in the rear right one to work or summat m8

I didnt partition it just formatted it to fat32 but i was following a guide about installing it. Didnt mention anything about a partition?

Cheers mate, finally got it working. Was up till 4 in the morning pissing about with it last night and all day today lol. Finally made it work by installing usb loader gx with the drive formated as WBFS and sleep timer turned off.
Thinkit was because it was on of these usb 3 drives
