soft modding need help ,copyed games will not work

after doing the step by step guide by MOAMB ,i hit a few problems

did not get any errors when installing the soft mod

but i can not play any back up games on it,keeps saying "disk read error"

is there any way i can check and make sure that the soft mod is working ok ?

plz keep in mind that i am new to this so plz keep it easy...lol


i use image burn to copy the games and use the same drive for my xbox games that work fine

if you have a new red or black wii, then you will not be able to play back up dvd's.
the drives in them are not capable of reading the dvd's.

once softmodded a wii will only read DVD - not DVD +

i have not installed the usb part of it yet ,,i do have a drive key fitted would this stop it working ?

i may be wrong here but is MOAMB's softmod guide not for the 4.3 firmware!

I have used DVD+ on softmodded wii with no hassle

for the most part a purely softmodded wii in my experience will only read dvd - so i am glad to learn that you have been able to use dvd +

have yo now got the homebrew channel on the wii homepage and have you got a loader like neogamma on there too, not sure which loader is used from this guide!

i have a back up disk channel

if i click that, it comes up with disk error, if i then wait for a few sec's it then comes up with "neogamma r8 ios 249 (rev 17)"setting screen

i have a homebrew channel but it is empty if i click on it

after a bit of reading ,i have find out that i have boot2v4

with that in mind i have read that i need to patch this with ios15-64-v523.wad

is this right if it is where do i get this wad file from

pulling my hair out with this as i have not got a clue what i am doing and the wife is not happy

can i put the wii back to how it was b4 i started all this and just buy a new drive key ?
