My brother had a spiderbox fitted last weekend, and its stopped working. i asked for help on the spiderbox forum, and am now banned. The same happened to him with his starview box, had it about 3 weeks and that went dead too. All these 'free channel' boxes are just a con. Another £160 down the drain as the shop will not answer any of the phones. The money he has spent on 'FREE' viewing in the last few months, would have paid for virgin for a year

The server is down still loads to watch, have a read of digidudes post in the technomate section about free card servers. Also see if you can get some test lines for other servers there are a few that specialise in being spiderbox friendly. Have a read on the other sections of the forum and you should be sorted in time for the football on Saturday, server will probably be up by then anyway.

Service+ will be back.
The fire and the subsequent removal of the stock from the ***** shop until repairs are made have nothing whatsoever to do with the problems being experienced with service+ which is of course not located there.

The news I have is that the server and database will have to be rebuilt from scratch and new measures put in place to prevent interference from hackers, enemies, and competitors.

Full service will not be restored immediately, and the beginning of the restoration of service+ may take a bit of time - more than just a few days unfortunately, but ultimately nobody will lose out on the 12-month gift.

Service+ will begin to be restored when the preliminary work is done and it will start with a few channels, building up progressively again like it has done since the beginning. A new patch will then be issued with even more security features.

Service+ has survived smaller assaults, and as they say "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger!"

Now, as I've said before - Service+ is down for Maintenance and normal service will be resumed as soon as possible.

Hope it gets sorted out soon not for me but the newer owners who will quite understandably be in a panicky state.
I did hear that there was a fire and that no one was injured which is good news as for Service+ will will have to wait a bit.

Still if the fire did the shop it would have nnoffin to do wiv da server as they wouldnt be daft enuff to run it from a London high street store?

why would there be no smoke damage to the shop itself if there wasa fire? if there was a fire, why remove the smoke damaged stock? insurers know that stock written off by smoke damage is unsellable.

how come people who live local to the shop, are posting that they didnt seea fire, but DID see one of the emergency services? and it wasnt an ambulance.

lots of things being posted on other forums, yet only the one unbelievable story emerges nearly 2 days later?

Thats about all we can do mate, I'm using mine with a line but I feel sorry for new owners who have lost their Service+ for now.
Lets hope we get the full story soon as a lack of information allows the rumours to spread and no one really needs that.

untill darkman himself posts a believable 'reason', ill believe the 'rumours', as they sound a lot truer than some of the storys. If the shop caught fire, there would have been an announcement on the main site withing a couple of hours stating that there had been a fire and the shop would be unable to deal with calls

They are stickies in the technomate (standard) section, third and fourth down. Have a read of those, I never got them to work though. Failing that get a test line for a premium line from another forum.

What a statement based not on your experience but your brothers TWO receivers!!
Did your brother complain when he was watching PAY telly for free!!
The Service+ server has been down for just TWO days and you feel qualified to make statements like that.
Many Spiderbox owners still have the NuevoXstream working and their not complaining.
I notice that the above post is your SECOND post in nearly FIVE years membership here and you feel this qualifies you to make such a statement.
If you posted on the other forum the way you did here then I am not surprised at their response, they are trying to restore Service+ and simply don't need that sort of post.

What has my number of posts got to do with anything? I read a lot, I use the search function, this site is a glodmine of information, and, unlike some forums, unedited and uncensored.

I recommended the spiderbox to my brother after doing a few weeks of research, and after a handfull of posts on the ***** forum, and after speaking to the shop, I was led to believe that the MAIN selling point of this receiver was the Service+ feature, which lasted 6 days. IF there was a fire in the shop, then it takes a single phone call to get all telephone lines redirected, so the shop could then still deal with any enquirys.

As for the nature of the Service+, it is not really the sort of thing you can complain to trading standards about either.

As for the fire in the shop, a total pack of lies, can I back this claim up? Yes, via the london fire brigade services website, which lists all recent call outs, so, it must have been a VERY small fire, in an ashtray maybe.

I do a LOT of reading, and I love a good conspiracy, as I cannot get out much.

As for my brother complaining while watching his 'free' programmes, are they free if in total the bill works out at around £300 a month?

I am now going to trawl the london metropolitan police website, as it is plainly obvious that there was no fire that would have needed the whole shop to be emptied of all of it's stock, and closed for days on end with no explanation. When I find something, I will be sure to share it, afterall, we're all here to help, right?

Just how long do you really think a forum would exist if there was no control over the posts, why does EVERY forum have rules if editing is unnecessary, ok so there is a problem lets wait and see what happens.
As for your statement about a fire, I have seen a tea chest fire which we were able to extinguish without calling the fire brigade but it still did considerable damage so there's no need for sarcasm about ash trays (surly you know it's illegal to smoke in a building visited by the public?).
Give it a rest, why go on, we will know soon enough.
