He was greetin like a big wain threatening to quit if motherwell sold any of his players but let McCormack leave.
if he sells then he'll have money to buy players and not have to juggle things every six months.
Think youve got yourself a good player there, he done brillaint for us over the last few years, just hope we dont miss him to much, harry said in local paper he didnt want to sell him but had to balance the books and the other players he wouldnt have minded going either had no offers or didnt want to leave[/QUOTE
think this was the story m8.
Redknapp: Needs to create funds
Harry Redknapp admits he was reluctant to sell Portuguese ace Pedro Mendes to Rangers.
The Portsmouth boss allowed the midfielder to join the Scottish giants on Friday in a £3million deal.
Having splashed out this summer on the likes of Peter Crouch and Younes Kaboul, Redknapp had been told that he must sell before he can buy.
He has so far been frustrated in his attempts to move on a number of the fringe players in his squad, with some refusing offers from elsewhere.
Redknapp concedes that his hand was forced over the sale of Mendes, with little alternative available to him.
"I had the opportunity to sell a few players but they wouldn't go," said Redknapp.
"Pedro was way up on the list of players I wanted to sell.
"The ones I could have sold had good opportunities to move to good clubs and they didn't want to move.
"They're probably in the comfort zone here and they're quite happy not to be in the team but to just do their little bit and plod along.
"But with Pedro, it's a move he fancied when it was put to him and it's a move we had to do financially - so we move on."
Redknapp admitted that he was sad to see the energetic midfielder go, who will be remembered by Pompey fans as the man who kept them in the Premier League a couple of seasons ago.
The 29-year-old midfielder played 58 times in the league under Redknapp at Portsmouth, scoring 5 times, and Redknapp has paid tribute to the Portuguese midfielder’s contribution during his two years at the club. Speaking to The Portsmouth News, Redknapp said, “I love him (Mendes) as a fella and a player. He's a great pro and a great person.
3million for a 29 year old when spl moneys tight bad piece of business,
dont rate mendes too much at all
