CELTIC were left stunned last night after Bobo Balde snubbed the chance of yet another massive transfer deal.

The big defender dismissed the opportunity to earn an incredible £30,000 a week.

It was revealed on Wednesday he had knocked back a £27,500-aweek move to Wolves and 24 hours later he turned up his nose at a larger offer from Birmingham. Alex McLeish tried again to lure Balde, this time offering a two-year deal and £5000 a week more than the Guinean internationalist earns with Celtic.

They felt he would finally pack up and go but again he refused, leaving the club wrestling with "a high degree of exasperation."

Celtic supporters will also be furious because Balde can take £1million more out of the club if he stays put.

His deal expires next summer but Celtic want him out to free up wages for transfer targets.

Balde appears determined to see out another year even though he won't play for the club again.

Thomas Gravesen gets a reported £2m + £1m bonus if he stays till the end of the season.

3million for a 29 year old when spl moneys tight bad piece of business,

dont rate mendes too much at all

25million spent in 2 years now,

Think youve got yourself a good player there, he done brillaint for us over the last few years, just hope we dont miss him to much, harry said in local paper he didnt want to sell him but had to balance the books and the other players he wouldnt have minded going either had no offers or didnt want to leave

He was greetin like a big wain threatening to quit if motherwell sold any of his players but let McCormack leave.

if he sells then he'll have money to buy players and not have to juggle things every six months.

McCormack's contract was up and he was adamant that he wouldn't sign another one so McGhee had no choice

Why do we want to sell our best players? thats just plain daft, Celtic and rangers both have good Scottish players sitting on the bench or in the stand every week that could do a job for anyone in the spl, if they aint getting a game for rangers or celtic then why shouldn't we try and sign them on loan?

we couldn't afford to sign the big Center half we had on trial and we cant afford to buy anyone thats why anyone outside the OF survive on loan deals when we need cover like we desperately do for our defence!

Cheers

nobody want's to sell their best players but if you get money to buy 2 or 3 players from selling then is it not better to do so to strengthen the squad rather than pay higher wages to someone for 6 months.

think this was the story m8.

Redknapp: Needs to create funds

Harry Redknapp admits he was reluctant to sell Portuguese ace Pedro Mendes to Rangers.

The Portsmouth boss allowed the midfielder to join the Scottish giants on Friday in a £3million deal.

Having splashed out this summer on the likes of Peter Crouch and Younes Kaboul, Redknapp had been told that he must sell before he can buy.

He has so far been frustrated in his attempts to move on a number of the fringe players in his squad, with some refusing offers from elsewhere.

Redknapp concedes that his hand was forced over the sale of Mendes, with little alternative available to him.

"I had the opportunity to sell a few players but they wouldn't go," said Redknapp.

"Pedro was way up on the list of players I wanted to sell.

"The ones I could have sold had good opportunities to move to good clubs and they didn't want to move.

"They're probably in the comfort zone here and they're quite happy not to be in the team but to just do their little bit and plod along.

"But with Pedro, it's a move he fancied when it was put to him and it's a move we had to do financially - so we move on."

Redknapp admitted that he was sad to see the energetic midfielder go, who will be remembered by Pompey fans as the man who kept them in the Premier League a couple of seasons ago.

The 29-year-old midfielder played 58 times in the league under Redknapp at Portsmouth, scoring 5 times, and Redknapp has paid tribute to the Portuguese midfielder’s contribution during his two years at the club. Speaking to The Portsmouth News, Redknapp said, “I love him (Mendes) as a fella and a player. He's a great pro and a great person.

Reynolds is too young to be wasted by sitting on a bench, if we could sell him then still have him on loan for, say, the next 2-3 seasons then fair enuff but he needs first team football

this is only his 3rd season in the spl!!

Cheers

Motherwell are hoping to sign Webster.

Andy Webster had been interesting Motherwell boss Mark McGhee, but He was today heading south for talks with Bristol City.
