puncture advice

i've just had a puncture in my car and it is not supplied with a spare wheel just a can of tyre weld(which didnt work so it stuck in my garage still punctured) is it true if anyone knows if it costs more to get it repaired because i have used the tyre weld on it?

guy at work got that system with his vw touran he is well p**** off, he said if u use that can of stuff tyre is then its U/S and has to be replaced it cant be repaired and it costs £50 for another can.
