The first Mc Donald's drive through window was invented at Sierra Vista AZ near a US military base Fort Huachuca. Soldiers were not allowed to wear their uniforms in stores at the time. In January 1975 The Manager David Rich came up with a solution and put small windows on the restaurant to cater to soldiers in uniform. This was adopted by the restaurant and became the standard.
