i have just ran a speedtest which reported (miserably low as expected) download speed of 0.52mb/s and an upload speed of 0.24mb/s.
-i am with orange and use their livebox modem router
-we have 2 laptops in the house which are fed wirelessly and a desktop which is on an ethernet cable
-i use the desktop for a lot of downloading and i can put up with the laptops speeds for general computing use but its becoming annoying when i download films because it often takes 4 hours at least and thats when im the only one working on our network
i guess i am right in saying that using a cat5 ethernet ensures i have the best speed over the wireless connections but would upgrading my ethernet port make a big difference?
-and how does the livebox compare to other routers, would it be worth upgrading the router?
