help r4 card not reconised?

hi guys a friend of mine has asked if i can have a look at his r4 card. if you plug it in the ds doesnt see it. so ive looked on r4i website and downloaded the latest software for the v1.4.1 card and its still the same.
what else can i try?

don't know what r4 card it is, if the software download wrong, the card will not work too.
There should has the card official site on the lable, you can check it.
And if you download the correct firmware and still cannot work it, i am afraid there is a contact issue for the card.
you can try the paper trick.
