Having a hard time with switch from DBOX.

at the moment getting a dreambox to replace a dbox has been a downgrade, cause of no fast scanning and also not picking up them channeks :(

Maybe one day : shocked2
You can customise cables.xml to give you fast scanning. If you load your cables.xml and services files into a text editor, all you need to do is take out all the frequencies from cables.xml that aren't used in the services file, so it only scans the transponders that are active in your area. If you're using an Enigma image, it's a good idea to use Bouquest Wizard or Bouquetter to convert the services file to Neutrino/XML format, as it's a little easier to read.

As for the missing channels, it's no great loss, but it would still be nice to know that it worked. Like you said, going from Dbox2 to DM500 does in many ways seem like a downgrade.

The dreambox is a lot faster, on the plus side of things, and obviously it's smaller, doesn't run as hot and is less prone to breaking down.

The main negative for me is the weakness of the tuner compared to the dboxes - I believe even the tuner on the dm600 is not quite as adept at pulling channels out of varying signal strengths. And now of course this daft missing channel issue.

I'm sticking with my trusty Sagem 1x dbox for the moment as my main box, the dreambox can go in the front room where the porn channels aren't welcome anyway he he!

I've just ordered a Eurovox Max 2008 to have a play about with too - just for the learning experience really.
