Using filezilla I use
192.168.0.8 as IP, default as password and poet as 1000

I then get this

Status: Connecting to 192.168.0.8:1000...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...

but after a while, it turns to

Error: Connection timed out
Error: Could not connect to server

yehh, but thats because we dont know the username so it times out ... i was able to use a udp file transfer to connect tho as you dont need a username for udp transfers

i used pe explorer....

i have captured the packets that are sent to the box and there are no ftp protocol used, so i think this is not FTP, instead it uses udp/tcp to transfer the files, which is a bit shit...

Great minds... i just installed wireshark to do the same, i can see the packets being passed over TCP and the password also in the hex dump.

Yep, not using FTP which as you say is pants, i think this is obviously because they haven't built it into their software build so its a needs must in an attempt to give a "virtual" ftp access method, and then use the proprietry chipset software to do a tcp/udp transfer.

You can see on the final step where it passes the password to the box:

i hope it dosnt just use udp... start loosing packets when sending an update not good :-/

Based on last software, we make some update and another version software is released today!

We improve the followings

1. support and read Thailand card

2. Support and read Malaysia card

3 supports internet tool( FTP tool)

4. When you want to identify your receiver, you need to enter "8888", not "777777"

Warm Suggestions:

Before identify , please backup your old software of the box by usb. Download , then upgrade the latest software by usb.
enter menu---tool---information(press ok)---press "8888" key, now you will see CHIP ID , If the box CHIP ID belongs to the chip_id_list, congratulatation!your HD Receiver is original version! You can upgrade any new firmware and experience more new functions. Otherwise, if You Box is clone version , please upgrade the old version software!Because our latest software will kill the clone box when power and on over10 times. If less than 10 times, no kill for clone verion.

The chip_id_list is the following, we will keep them updated everyday:
00D0
00EA
085B
0D0C
98A1
98F2
9CF4
9D1A
When you buy a new box , try to view the chip_id_list on this http page. If you can not find the valid "CHIP ID" on the chip_id_list, it means your box is a clone box.

Has this firmware cured the epg ?
has this firmware stopped finding the reboot channels?

if not why bother releasing it I dont mean to upset you for putting it on hooley but it is rather pointless to keep updating the firmware and it never addresses the problems we in the uk have

Did you check the ccid before the upgrade? Has it changed the ccid?

My CCID changed from 0202 to 0202:00EA

Basically added the extra numbers on the end
