if you've got the slayers disk why not just use that, seems to be a long winded way round if you follow that route!

i tried that but i couldnt get the slayer disk to boot, tried several discs types as as well. BUT ive finally got the xbox booting to MS using the xboxhdm and the stock xbox files. I think i'm going to try the NDURE method that Bally suggested as its supposed to be stable. From the looks of it i have a fairly new kernal (5838)

Glad your sorted now mate, i had the same probelm where it wouldnt boot any disc.
