Another first for me on this satellite... however the signal lock only lasted a few minutes... and hasn't locked again since then...

ive never had a look at this one untill now, i am not getting much here atm,


the only lock i have atm is 11585v 27500 but the signal is breaking up, i will keep an eye on it, ive made a slot and inputed the tps,

I've just checked this transponder/frequency again... and now it's showing the best 'Signal Quality' reading of any transponder/frequency on this satellite... very strange...

When I first reported reception of this transponder/frequency I only managed to do this by manually adding the four channels in the package and entering their PID's... now that I have got a stable signal I did a proper download from the transponder/frequency and four additional channels have appeared in the line-up...

DTV1 [VPID 1285/APID 1286/PPID 1284] FTA
DTV1 [VPID 1541/APID 1542/PPID 1540] FTA
DTV1 [VPID 1797/APID 1798/PPID 1796] FTA
DTV1 [VPID 2053/APID 2054/PPID 2052] FTA

However... all four of these DTV1 channels are currently only showing a blank screen with the 'No Audio/Video' message... but I will keep checking them just in case...

That 11662v 2150 peaked at 68% (in the evening), it is unstable and goes up & down & the other 3 can either stay the same or go up & down at the same time as 11662v goes up.

I'm pretty certain that's a feed tp, that might explain the big fluctuations unrelated to the others.

11662v2150 was at 73% when I had a quick look this morning, in minutes it was 64% then 52% ? the others are more predictable & 11164H7200 is quite stable and would be quite handy if it carried what's on the weaker 11390H27500 with those film channels

I managed both 11662 V 2150 & 11164 H 7200 Last night/Early morning but the figures where going wild from 0db to around 6.9db and took an awful long time to lock, I may go back to using the Black Pro as at present i decided to try a MK1 Smart Titanium kindly donated by mdt but this has had little to no effect on some frequency's.

I will leave this a couple of days and try again

11.171 H [2100] 7/8 DVB-S [QPSK] 3387 Kbps [Wide Beam]

This transponder/frequency and it's associated channel has had me stumped for ages...

I receive sufficient Signal Quality (see attached pictures) to enable a lock... but I cannot get it to lock... no matter what I do... the Signal Quality bar fluctuates up and down... it troughs on the frequency around 43% and it peaks around 59%

I initially thought that the increased Signal Quality on this transponder was due to signal width interference from 11.164 H ...so I entered the symbol rate that 11.164 H uses (7200) on the 11.171 H transponder... but there was no hint of this being the culprit...

I then tried to resolve this anomaly by repeatedly 'Blind Scanning' the relevant part of the Horizontal Ku band (11.169~11.173) using the (slowest) most detailed 'Step' setting 1MHz ...again nothing was found... so I manually added the channel/PID's as this is a method I have used before with great success when trying to lock channels on 'Fringe' satellites... but this didn't work either...

I also checked to see if this was possibly a strong transponder from a neighbouring satellite that was causing the elevated Signal Quality... so I tweaked the dish towards Astra 3B at 23.5°E and the Signal Quality decreased... then I tweaked the dish towards Astra 1N/2A/2F at 28.2°E and again the Signal Quality decreased...

So it seems like I'm left with two possibilities...

1/ My TM 5402 HD/LNB for some unknown reason cannot/will not lock this transponder
2/ The Symbol Rate of 2100 is incorrect... however... Flysat/KingOfSat/Lyngsat charts all quote the same 2100 Symbol Rate

Can anyone help me with this...?

Perhaps nelsonb can try this problem transponder on his 1.8m dish...?

hi -
hmm - that transponder resolves o.k. using 1.8 . into F15 receiver.

using a 1.2 into the F15 receiver i get very muddled results - much the same as you are getting with your T.M.
i,m suspecting a smaller/less focused dish is picking up stray signal from the stronger - Badr or even astra/eurobird or astra 23.5 - and causing problems.?

I,v noticed something odd about certain frequencies from Badr also - as well as 11.171 H from 25.5 - when using 1.2 and Fi5 --- that are not present when using 1.8 . will look at this in more detail later today if i get the chance - and report my findings -

been testing out a 1.2 fibo that i,v had for some time but never really used fully -- due to limited view/location - it may well replace the 1.2 channel master in the coming weeks - as initial results look good.
it was this dish that i did the above 1.2 checks on 11.171 H yesterday

Thanks for testing the transponder on your 1.8m dish...

Astra 3B at 23.5°E doesn't use transponders that low in the Ku band

Badr 4 at 26.0°E doesn't use transponders that low in the Ku band
Badr 5 at 26.0°E does use transponders that low in the Ku band (dish not big enough)
Badr 6 at 26.0°E doesn't use transponders that low in the Ku band

Astra 1N/2F at 28.2°E does use transponders that low in the Ku band

hi - again - looked a bit closer at this oddity

with the F15/Fibo combination on that frequency i get a unlocked fluctuating signal - all the way through to 28 deg, with no decrease ? signal jumps around from 7.1 - 8.5 db

if i connect the 1.8 to F15 it locks instantly at a steady 7.3 - 7.5 db - if i move to 28 deg the signal drops off to - 0 , then returns as a unlocked fluctuating signal as it comes on to 28 deg . ?

I didn't move my dish quite that far mate... all I did was to tweak the dish about 0.5°E and the signal disappeared... however I have just tweaked the dish all the way to 28.2°E and you are quite right... the signal does disappear during the first 0.5°E ...but then it re-appears again and increases substantially all the way until you reach 28.2°E

So do you think the interference is actually coming from this transponder...?

the oddity i noticed this morning regarding a Badr transponder - leads me to believe that the effect of 28 east could be much wider than i though !

ok, i double checked and found i was mistaken in assuming it might be overspill from 28 E causing issues with 11.171 H .

a positioning error on the 1.2 caused me to think it might be,
i,v not got used to positioning this fibo motor yet,( possible mechanical problem) and control using 36 v from an old Strong 375 is not subtle - l.o.l. -

its probably just a signal strength issue with 11.171 H .

i am well pleased with the performance from this dish though .
below are my results from 25.5 E using the F15 receiver

11390 H 27500 -- 4.8 db locked

11585 V 27500 -- 5.4 db locked

11164 H 7200 -- 5.7 db locked

11662 V 2150 -- 7.5 db locked

11659 V 1120 -- fluctuating up to 6.5 db not locked

11171 H 2100 -- fluctuating up to 4.0 db not locked
