Hi Guys

I am just after a bit of advice, yesterday i received emails saying my epic games password had been changed and i didnt request this so i checked it and it had so i managed to reset it and change it again.
Then i had my steam account password changed and my phone removed from it, i had a hell of a job getting this back as i dont really use steam but explained it all to steam and they sorted it for me and now i have an authenticator. It appears my Virgin email was hacked and this is how they were gaining access to all this as i saw all the password reset emails in there. Then i had an email from my own Virgin email saying i had been hacked and what email and even the password that was used and that they could record me on microphone and camera ect and if i wanted my stuff back i had to pay $400 to a crypto account.
Anyway i changed the email password and all was fine until this morning when they have again changed my password in epic games so i can only assume they have got into my Virgin email again? I have changed it again and contacted Virgin who were not that helpful and wanted to remote access my PC and run malware software and charge me for all this?
Has anyone had anything similar to this regards threatening emails and trying to gain access to your accounts?

Any ideas what best to do please?

Yeah apparently had me on video watching porn PC has no Webcam so changed all my password and told em to mail it to all my contacts.

I think in your case you may have a key logger on your PC.

Run your antivirus and malware apps see if it finds anything.

Change your passwords on your accounts again but use another PC or device from normal.

Worst case format and reinstall windows.

Paid or not doesn't matter. Kaspersky sends information to Russia, I wouldn't use them anymore. Personally on PC's I use panda dome, it's free, and lightweight.

Whilst changing your details is a good start, and removing any keylogger, it could be that your details have been leaked in a breach from previous breaches. Checkout haveibeenpwned.com, should show you all the leaks on your email address.

Personally, I would setup a fresh email account, and change all details and passwords to the new one. Use keepass or similar to generate 10+ characters so it can't be brute forced.

Are you also reusing passwords? Same password across multiple sites?

as my experience ,
KASPERSKY knows about the hacked codes then they don't block anyone and the codes
continue working but they send updates which contains the blacklist codes to let some
dangerous virus to be not detected in your PC with their products.
but if you use a valid paid code then you will not have problems.

Thanks,

here you are wrong 100/100 not only KASPERSKY CAN DO THIS
But also: Mc Afee, northon, Windows send your informations to USA (FBI, NSA, ...etc)

I've had that as well where I was threatened that video of me knocking one out while watching porn would be sent to all my contacts.
Like you there was no webcam on my desktop at that time.

The email address and password he showed me was one I hadn't used for ages and only ever used for one website, xbox360.iso. I used to download games from there till it got hacked.

You contradict yourself in the 1st sentence. I didn't say anyone else didn't do it. But it's been documented that kaspersky sent files from a users laptop to Russia. So which part of that sentence is incorrect?

You don't want to trust any of them in fairness. Although it depends on your threat model, how technically savvy you are, or how nefarious.

Seriously?

I think you need to explain that answer a little more clearly.

Well guys after reading about this on Virgins community pages it is happening quite a lot most with exact same email i had.

I wonder if their systems were hacked and this is the knock on.....

I use Housecall and Eset free online scans plus Malwarebytes and a designated keylogger program. Like Ferret said you've more than likely got a keylogger taking notes on every password change.

One tip I was given by a guy donkeys years ago was, always try to run these scans in safe mode or via a bootable device say like the likes of Hirens USB/CD.

Some of the nastier stuff are a bugger to get rid of while Windows is running. It's like trying to change a timing belt on a car while the engines ticking over. By limiting or stopping Windows you can then get rid of them

Some years ago I had similar were my passwords were constantly been changed and I found it to be 2 nasty little sh*ts hidden deep in my PC
