Can I ask for a bit of advice,
I have a Dell Dimension E520 that is now six years old and has just stopped working, when I turn it on the power light on the front glows and dims but nothing else happens? The PC had been playing up for a couple of months showing the same symptoms but turning the power on and off a couple of times normally fixed it but now it will not so I suspect it needs a new power supply.

Q1 . Does my diagnosis of power supply replacement seem right

Q2. The PSU is a L3059-01 any advice as to what one should I replace it with

Regards DD

I upgraded it in 2010, see my post: Dell Dimension E520 CPU upgrade

I have at the moment a Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 4300 @ 1.80GHz Model 15, Stepping 2 with 64 bit WIN7 and 6gig RAM, and 3TB of hard drives. I use the PC for my main storage so would like to keep it going if cheep enough.

Sounds about right to be honest, but you could probably pick up a cheap second hand PC for not much more which would be more up to date rather than spend £40 on a PSU

DELL DIMENSION E520 E521 PC 305W PSU POWER SUPPLY NH493 | eBay

What spec is your current PC?
