Unable to find replacement power supply for this lamp originally purchased from Lidl less than 12 months ago but is no longer working. l don't have the purchase receipt. I emailed the manufacturer without response.

It seems as thought 2 of the 4 pins inside the plug are bent and I have been unsuccessful in trying to straighten.

The power supply is common 5v 1A 5W but;
  • the plug cable input looks like but is not a standard USB type.
  • The cable end that fits into lamp has centre pin.
Any thoughts appreciated 👏

Thanks for your reply mate.

I found a few like this but wasn't convinced that they have the centre pin in the end jack connector as per photo 2 above.

I thought the centre pin was the positive on that type? the socket on the lamp has a hole for the pin.

You could just cut the end off your old one and replace it to the new power supply

If you have a multimeter you can check to see if the center pin is positive

The jack plug connector is 'L' shaped moulded type and not the unscrew type for easy soldering.
Not keen on having a join in the cable lead itself.

I have several USB charger plugs of various power outputs but the lamp cable with what looks like a 'USB type' connection in size does not push fit into any of them as there is some sort of fit interference.

Well see if anyone ells replies m8 as that's the best i can think of without finding the original power supply

Looks like a piece of plastic from the PSU has broken off and is stuck in the cable. You should be able to pry it out with a safety pin/needle maybe tweezer too.

Edit: You can definitely see the plastic pieces is broken off from the PSU.

Spot on mate. I managed to remove the offending plastic piece from the cable with some difficulty without bending the contacts. The pointed tweezers are now knackered. The pins in the USB Power plug were mashed but luckily found a USB power plug with same rating I had hoarded from an old HTC mobile phone.:)

Thanks to all who advised.
