3ds will normal ds games work

Friend has a 3ds, will a r4 card play normal ds games on the 3ds. I've read on here about the gateway card but she wont pay 60/70 quid for one of those so I suggested the normal cards. Also anyoner have any links on where to get them from now as I don't fancy china again after the trouble I had last time with priceangels lol

yes you can play ds games on a 3ds with the right card
check the firmware of the 3ds to get the right card
most r4 wont work with software over 4.5 but there are still some cards that will
