Dreambox 600

Hi there guys,

Just got a dreambox and tried following some weird tutorial from another website with no luck, I tried searching here with no luck.

So was wondering if anybody had someking of tutorial for the 600pvr.

Installing an Image onto the box,

and another totally NOOB question the dreambox I ordered (600-c) came with the tuner with the antenna sockets on the back, shouldn't it have had the the screw on type found on pace boxes?

As you can tell im a total newbie with dreambox's and any help will be much appreciated.

you need dreamup to flash a image accross m8
also you need a f connector convertor

The thing is I tries to use dream up, I connected the box to my laptop using a null cable, I click connect and as soon as I power on the box I get the error message ("is not a valid integer),

any Ideas

Thanks mate, thats the one I used and it gave me that error

I'm using vista and a Laptop not sure if that makes a difference.

Sorry for my ignorance but is at as simple as transferring an image and then scanning for channels?

have you set the IPs up correctly so PC and Dream can connect to each other

RAT, your scaring me lol, what does that mean, As I said i'm a total NOOB when it comes to dreamboxes, I didnt think I had to play with the IP's when using a null modem cable?

lol you know what m8 Ive only ever used dreamup 2 or 3 times myself lol

I just opened min up and see the IPs set
thats why I posted it

Although I Might be wrong I THINK ive been able to gather that when using a null modem cable there is no need to set the IP addresses.

Any other ideas, would love to be up and rinning for tommorow in order to watch a certain boxing fight.

Can I use a normal ethernet cable to the same as a null modem cable would do?

You would need a cross over network cable. Not a normal cable.

And then the procedure is the same, I use a Dreamup and instead of selecting port i Select the network tick box?

I would have assumed that when using DreamUp and a serial cable you would select the port number.

Hi guys, tried it on a different lappy running Windows XP and is currently flashing the Image, appparenty it's going to take 30 minutes,

So now for the really ignorant question:

What Next, im pretty sure that I have to FTP some files over to the dreambox, am I going to transfer a ROM image and if so which folder.

PLI JADE, ive managed to ftp over the cables.xml and the rom7 files, is this all i need to do?

Any idea as to how long it would take to update, Also is it safe to download plugins via the internet?

Perfectly safe to download plugins.

When you say update do you mean channels or something else? The channels should be about 5 minutes, however some people have mentioned that it takes 20 seconds or so for it to roll with the fix.

For me, it doesnt work at all.
