wtf is wrong with the inside lane? why do old people and 2@'s in bmw's refuse to use it?

my cars not the best thing on the road, and with 3 huge sets of ladders on the roof aint the fastest either, but you come to a slope on the motorway, im doing nearly 70 and then you have some coffin dodging old twart, or an 'ive got a 45 litre engine but choose to do 62' in the middle lane

i know im not going to get past them in the outside lane then its me holding up the faster traffic

undertake em or overtake em with left indicator on. I use M18/M1 intersection on my travels and they are currently converting the M1 stretch to 4 lanes. Completely pointless exercise. All that will achieve is people hogging 2nd/3rd lane while leaving the inside lane completly empty.

I do a fair bit of driving for work on all sorts of roads - I realy don't know how some of these incompetent tw@t's are still alive.

Since when has the national speed limit on back roads been 35 mph. I regularly overtake on such roads (only when it is safe to do so) and the dawdler's always respond by flashing their headlights or when they are really angry they flash their windscreen wipers.

Highway code states clearly that overtaking is a safe, normal part of driving.

It also states that it is safe to use the inside lane to pass SLOW moving traffic in the outer two lanes on the motorway.

Makes me bloody mad

Thats half the reason I've gone from a CIVIC type-R to a diesel. You just can't enjoy driving anymore

I do 5000 miles a month minimum and i know exactly what you mean. Although i found the worst ones are the ones that stick on the right hand lane doing 65 with empty road ahead. MOVE OVER FOR GOD SAKE!!!

What gets me is lorries doing 1mph more than the lorry (doing 50) in front overtake and block the middle lane, then decide to stay at the freckin side for a few miles!!

I think lorries should not use the motorway between rush hours (7-9 & 4-6). There's still 20 hours left in the day!

dont know whats worse, motorway middle lane hoggers, or those who come to a roundabout and theres nothing coming from the right but stop, then when a vehicle does come from the right they decide to pull out in front of it!!

The only time I have EVER stayed in the middle lane was on the motorway coming back or going to (Can't remember now) Middlesbrough and it was chucking it down, the inside lane was full of puddles and I'd already aqua planed once so thought I'd stick to the middle as it was about 11pm and no one else at all was on the road...that was until out of the blue came this car, right up my rear end, main beams lit to blind me then pulled out to overtake. As they pulled out I put my beams on to share the joy of blindness to find it was a police car! I kept my beam on mind. I'm not scared of the Bobbies. I wasn't speeding, if anything I was preventing an accident by not ditching me and my car having spun off the motorway and making them drag me out...some people.

I do agree though that daytime middle lane hogging is an absolute hateful and nonsensical thing to do and a pastime of the elderly and infirm...
