No good time to upgrade.

Get them on fleebay
One of the very last of my workshop items I got rid of was a small parts cabinet. There must have been 6 compartments full of just about every screw imaginable used in pc's, laptops, mobile phones etc;
I have to admit I went a bit OTT in getting rid of all my equipment, tools and hardware. I have since had to replace some of it but haven't went for quality, expensive stuff.

What size are they M2.5x6, or something like that?

the dominator ram is kick ass have a 64 gb kit installed running at 4000 mhz
I never went that far. Just checked my online invoice and I installed Corsair Vengeance RGB PRO Black 32GB 3200 MHz DDR4. If I remember right this can be tweaked to 4Mhz. What did stand out when I checked it 5 minutes ago was that the price has went from the £166-90 I paid last October to the £210-58 it is now.
That is quite a jump.

I'll need to have a good google on that Rob. Seen various sizes mentioned but I believe the length is a lot shorter at 3mm. Not crucial though as the standoff would probably take up to an 8mm screw.

I'll check my mobo manual tomorrow. May have the correct size in there somewhere.

Scratch that bit of good news about the savings. I also gained a tenner on the AIO but my processor is about £50 cheaper than I paid and the drives are a tad cheaper.
Shouldn't have looked. :(

I can't remember, only ever fitted one a couple of years ago to my PC and was trying to visualise them. Let me know and I'll see what I have.

Apparently, they are M2*3~4 from searches. Might have some M2 that can be trimmed, on my lathe perhaps :).

If you buy an ssd it will come with 4 screws but none come with an m.2 drive. Perhaps not all m.2 standoffs are the same diameter. As spud says they are available on eBay but very expensive for what they are.

I thought I got one with my Samsung M2 but maybe it was with the adapter PCIE card (old MB, not a boot drive...).

i got my dominator kit with colling fans for 450 but that was cheap at the time. oh and you have the same hd combo
the 970 is fast

I have a bag of assorted laptop screws I will have a look today and let you know.
I don’t think I have the stand-off’s though. 🤔

@chookey let me know what ones you need that’s if they are any good and I will stick them in the post.

Brilliant. Nail on the head moment. I've got an m.2 reader, no good for these drives as it is for the mSATA rather than NVME but it has 2 screws with it. Just fitted one and all is good. :D

That picture brings more of it back :). Glad you are sorted, they are a strange connector arrangement.

Yes, the 970 will be my boot drive. I also have a 2TB 970 ssd which will be 1 games drive. The 2TB Sabrent m.2 drive will be my Steam drive. I will use a 500gb 970 ssd and a 3TB mechanical drive from my existing pc.

Lot of faffing about but have installed windows 7 on it. No spare monitors or cables decorating my space anymore so everything had to be borrowed from my existing setup.
Tomorrow I will install missing drivers, activate the install and run gatherosstate.exe and generate a genuine ticket. I can then do a clean install of Windows 10 Pro.

Picture doesn't do it justice. The colours on the ram and fans are amazing. I'm going to have to come up with a solution to support the 3090 when it arrives. The GTX 970 I used temporarily is sagging and the 3090 is quite a bit heavier and bigger.

You can get anti-sag brackets from most places..overclockers have them, or even Ebay.

Thanks, got one from Overclockers. I knew about them but I was looking at mounting the graphics vertically so would likely have needed to come up with something bespoke. Decided against it for now.

Had a right game trying to get an activated windows 10 pro on this machine though and am unsure as to whether or not I was successful. I have always preferred the method of installing and activating win 7 with Daz loader, then running gatherosstate.exe to generate a genuine ticket before installing a clean copy of win 10.
Either it behaves differently with the 20H2 version or it isn't activated. My existing build which has been activated since I first installed win 10 also appears to no longer be activated. There are no warnings.
