i tried the usb-sdcard wizard last night and it didnt backup the customisations for the skin, it did however backup all addons and such, but no profiles or anything, so my plan is to use es file explorer and find the kodi files and try and backup that way, weather it works or not is another thing.

I think everything is kept in this directory, so if you were to copy that everything should be backed up

For = KODI / storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi

For = XBMC / storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.xbmc

But I can’t find where that directory is

org.xbmc.xbmc folder

Staff have taken the decision to allow repos for Kodi to be posted. Posts leading up to this discussion have been deleted so the thread can return to discussion of installing Kodi+Wookie.

Good call by the staff allowing this. many members have found this thread great. thankxs to @idrob .

ok pal, iv just tried this now, cleared all data from kodi so it was a clean install, i had already backed the files up from this location, / storage/emulated/0/Android/data/org.xbmc.kodi and all files within to an sd card. i used es file explorer to once again copy from sd card back to where the kodi files should be, and it worked as it should, no problem at all, exactly how it should be, that was backing up wookie build, so all sorted here.

regarding you not being able to see the dirctory, you need to run kodi for the 1st time to generate the folders, i see you have done another thread so looks like your sorted anyway.

I haven't tried the backup instructions.

So if I was to send you a copy of my “org.xbmc.kodi” and “org.xbmc.xbmc”

You would have exactly what I have on my box.

Is that correct, can someone confirm this please

thats correct pal, 100%, out of curiosity whats the 2 different file location you named as all i backed up was org.xbmc.kodi, not the other one, is that just the different file location for if your still using xbmc rather kodi.

I think if you’re running Kodi, you only need to copy “org.xbmc.kodi”

And if you’re running XBMC you copy “org.xbmc.xbmc”

I wasn't sure so I thought it better to copy both, better safe than sorry.

So my next question would be, what’s to stop us from sending our fully working “org.xbmc.kodi”, to those of us who didn't manage to get their system fully working. would that work?

In theory if that does work, then all one has to do is install Kodi and copy and paste a fully working “org.xbmc.kodi” on to their system.

Somehow I think this is just wishful thinking, it can’t be as easy as that.

So now all we need is a couple of volunteers to try this experiment.

If it works, everybody can install a fully working system with ease.

Later on when I get a chance, I’ll upload a copy of my “org.xbmc.kodi” for someone to try and let us know if it works.

I can’t send my T8’s one because my login details are locked to my home IP, so it will have to be my computers one.

has anyone tried the community builds from TotalRevolution?? theres loads of builds on there and some of them are reall good using the latest Aeon Nox mq6 skin some of them are amazing but some are bloated with too many addons lol,but are easy to remove the ones you dont want tbh .

If anyone wants to backup there there kodi build and transfer it to another machine I find the best way is to use Total installer. There are tut vids on youtube and on there forum on how to install and use it. You can share your kodi build or try other peoples builds with all repos and addons setup. I use kodi 14.2 and ccm helix skin which is fully customisable.

as far as im aware its as easy as that, aslong as your transferring from android to android, windows to windows, as file structure may be different, although im not sure. aslong as there running a fresh install of the same version of kodi the backup was made from then there should'nt be a problem.
