hi there is anybody knows if a vu solo 2 clone can be recovered with serial rs 232 or is just the solo 2 se?

Trying hard to recover a Solo2 SE that died on me almost instantly after i ran the upgrade tools.

It responds to the upgrade tools but thats it, impossible to flash afterward!

Suggestions?

so doesnt look like your box was bricked,

i even tried flashing old update tool then trying latest official image to try to brick it so could try and see if flashing bootloader could recover it as it is claimed , but it still boots up just gets stuck on boot screen with network cable connected

here is bootloader i used for solo 2 se , i can flash it using hyperterminal like in the guide , only way to find it if really works if box would be bricked just stay blank

AHAAA....fired up an old xp-pc and installed the bootloader from there, guess what....it's alive again

Somehow my laptop with Win7 and a usb2rs232 did not function right?

did you run the
UPDADE TOOLS_20140906 ? what exactly happened ? you sure you flashing the bootloader properly ? as there guide aint the best ,

Hi all,

I've just received my Vu Solo2 SE (mini) but it doesn't work at all. When I switch it on, it shows the Black Hole logo and after that nothing.... only a black screen. The remote control doesn't work too and no fan working. Do you have any idea how to fix it or just lost my money?
From the site vu-hd.com you can get images and a pdf where is explained how to write the bootloader. But I have not found there the SOLO2_BOOTLOADER.bin
In this thread you are talking about a bootloader but I have no permission to download it. attachment.php?attachmentid=84077
Could you please explain what I can do to fix the problem?

Hi there,

Here again. I have tried with the bootloader from mydalle. com (solo2_bootloader.bin)
I followed the process 100% and I got no errors. Evrything seams to be ok.... but I can't load the images from USB (formatted as FAT32).
Is the bootloader not correct? Now I turn on the solo2 se and the screen still stay black, with no fan and no usb.

Any help?

Perfect it works. Not 100% but something it works now. I got a message from my TV regarding the incompatibily of the output format. Here we are NTSC. Maybe the device is configurated to PAL. Here the question.... How can i change it? Is there a combinacion key from the remote control to do that? Thanks for the help

Theres no choice for PAL/NTSC unless you are connecting with Scart, are you?

You are right. HDMI has no PAL/NTSC option. I didn't think about that when I ask my question.
I have found the solution.
Here It is:

1) Go to Menu / Setup / System A/V

2) Change to:
Video output: HDMI
Mode: 1080p
Refresh rate: 60HZ

Before Refresh rate was "Multi"

I could have done the changes using OpenWebif and his virtual remote control.

It took only a couple of seconds and then i flashed vix apollo 32 (original) and it worked fine.

I suppose the V3 update is not needed on the solo 2 SE as i could update directly to V4 and everything works, I suppose I don't even need to do the FPGA update; what do you think?
Can I leave the VIX apollo 32 original (or even a newer one) or do i need to flash a safe image fom vu-hd?

you dont need to do any update other then v4 , and who knows what they have done in new drivers or will do, always been told to use older images on clones and not run update, as sooner or later something will happen

thanks Lombard, I will probably flash the latest blackhole from vu-hd just to be sure.. although I have to say that the openvix image looks pretty smooth and well organised compared to the blackhole one.

Evening lads there,s a new VTI 7.0 for the solo2 on the vu-hd site to try and if you,s are usein patched openvix with the feeds down copy & paste into talnet whats inside the doc i,ve uploaded this will install tspanel 7.3 from the net and then you can install what you need to get your box up and running on openvix regards dubliner

Just a heads up the VTI 7.0 on the vu-hd is useless don,t bother downloading it lad,s they make a arse of repacking the image it,s only 33.7 mb in size don,t waste your time keep your eye on the size of the files before you download i,ll know next time lesson learned .
